Well impressed with willy power, the torque is every thing I could of hoped it would be and more.....1st gear is extreme, wheel spinning at the top of the revs in the dry, 2nd is like first in a valver.

Could do all my favourate roundabouts and corners in 3rd rather than second. excellent. well more speed!!!

Spotted my mate in his alfa 147 1.8 twin spark, at a set of lights started of in 2nd and still smoked him good style.

Handling is awesome with the 15's, wide track and manual rack. car feels very light and nimble, with loads of feedback through the wheel. corning as fast as the valver on limit with out even trying!!

Just can't wait to compare it to the other willys , to see how the extreme light weight diet and losing the P/S set up have afected the performance.

PS anyone with a 1.8 valver, get a 2.0, It transforms your valver in to a total animal

yeah, big improvement on the 1.8 mate! like u say the torque alone makes it all that much better! sod the 4k kick, it pulls like fuk from 2k then again at 4k!!

Winston

Hell yeah!!!!!! :D

Can see why the willy is loved so much. wider track complements the 2.0 perfectly.

I have always felt the low gearing in 1st gear for this car is quite impractical with all the available low-end torque. I typically change out of 1st very quickly. 2nd to 5th is where all the action is at.

Do you get more or less torque steer in powering round corners compared to the standard 16V with assisted steering?

Winston

I'll get back to you on that, after I have got used to it again not driven it for 6months.....

Without them 1.8's winston there would have never been a 2.0ltr....you think about that!!!

Craig

This is not the first real hybrid test. The first real test of the hybrid is when you race a chav in his 182 and hand him is balls back on a plate

Winston

Steerng is heavy as you could imagine, But as long as the car is rolling its not bad at all, loads of feel through the wheels. parking is a work out lol

Anyone won't to race me in a 182

yes thats what i did 3 days after i got the car! he didnt look impressed and wouldnt let me past the cheeky git! was taking 2 lanes up!

the funniest part was when we first booted it and he pulled out to overtake me then i started to pull away so he had to pull back into the inside lane muhahaha! a bit shocked me thinks!

im gonna miss this car!

cool!!!!

Im working my way up to a 182 race

Been racing my mates 2.0 8v pasat engined Mk2 Golf <My mate that helped me fit the engine)...Tryed each others cars out. It was a Nice torquey beast.....But no match for the beast at all lol.......Also totally smoked 4 scrotes in a 106 quicksilver.

Just the big race left......beating my mates G40 Polo....Mwohhahahahaaaa!!! At york, but will no doubt have a banter with him tomorrow...

One thing I have noticed, Like u33db said there is a lack of engine braking , what are willy's like for engine braking?.....Anyway, better without!!

York anyone?????Meet??

Do you have the Williams gearbox and drive ratios? I find engine braking to be quite strong. Lift-off oversteer is always at the ready for mid-corner corrections. It won't feel like a Williams, if you can't throttle steer a corner. Good fun.

yep i have no probs with engine braking either..........but it tends to lead to gearbox breakin too hehe......spesh if u do it regularly

I'm looking at doing a engine conversion this year. Is there any advantage of fitting a 16v box to the 2.0? Or is it best to stick with the williams package?

dannyt

Jon why's it bad engine braking pal, and why's it reck the box i thought that was cos you were just a bit vishush with yours!!!lol

lol.thats wot i mean mate.knockin it down at a speed a little higher than it limits at ...i.e. knock it down to 3rd at 100.......will slow it down rapidly...but is a little too much for the poor box lol

Is that 100kph or 100mph?? It's fairly brutal to change down to 3rd at 100kph. But at 100mph (160kph) into 3rd, I am guessing a few cogs missing after that. Is that even within 7000 rpm? That way too fierce engine braking for me. Heh, does everyone drive like this here?

i dont. But have recently started to hit the limiter when i had a few doo's with the jesus last week.

2 live drives hard no matter if he's going to tescos or oulton park. heehee

Heh, and you guys called your cars "mint"? :) All these shenanigans in the most heavily traffic-policed country in the world - demerits points must be worth their weight in gold there.

dannyt
16-02-2005, 12:35
lol at 2live 100 into 3rd, no wonder you go through so many boxes!!!

mind you they still must be strong little bu**ers to cope with that and much more that 2live throws at it....i think you should test drive for reno jon....that make help them to build a better car in the future head back more towards the r turbo 2's and willys!!!lol

lol.well indicated on clocks...redlines at about 7100-7500 and it will do 90 ish in 3rd before limiter cuts in .. but have been known to need to slow down rapidly so using the box to its fullest lol....the cars revved to over 8k for quite few seconds while gettin remapped.so i know it can handle it in short doses lol

i do have a pic of me latest box in northys capable hands....when he gets round to puttin up lol
