dont condone this really, if you do have whiplash genuinely then claim, but people who claim for the sake of it, stop pushin my premiums up

Well after being on the phone to the insurance people ive got to get 2 independant quotes on the repairs for the car...

But the car must be a write off, door pillars are creasedv rear end caved in! it would need a whole new shell i think?

MAXIBOY
24-05-2007, 00:25
problem is they don,t always value your car the same as you do. so the whip lash levels the playing field

most truck drivers (depending on truck type) have a massive excess i.e. 5k in lots of cases so he may simply end up paying it himself. standard whiplash claim is circa 1800GBP anymore and they will contest it in court, have their own doctros check it out etc... simply drag it on until you get fed up. you need to get some pics from the website or autotrader showing the true value of your clio or else they will offer you a low amount. first rule, never accept their first offer, its a tempter.... just like on 'deal or no deal' haha

i agree though, only claim for things you have genuinely suffered as you are only hurting yourself, you will still end up paying for it somewhere down the line, increased premiums, higher tax's etc..

Well thats it the book price of my car is proberly only £1000>

But in the last 4 weeks its had:

New clutch

4 new toyo proxies

new discs an pads

lower ball joints

ARB bushes

and a new M.O.T!

Oh and i only renewed my insurance 3weeks ago GGGRRR!

in my eyes the car is worth £1700 at the very very least with all the parts on it!

drsmith1979
24-05-2007, 10:38
have you got receipts for the work done and the parts you bought? if so you can easily build that into the price no problem. when someone stole my fiesta years ago they offered me 200quid! i did a little research on autotrader, found some similar spec cars, similar mileage, much better condition mind, but sent them to the claims department and explained why i thouht my car was worth more, justified it with legitimate for sale adds, and then bartered about the price.. they more than double the offer to sort it asap. just be smart and honest and not too greedy.

MAXIBOY
24-05-2007, 10:52
also you want to get the car back. nick all the parts off it. they will let it go for less than 100 notes to a scrap yard so try and negotiate the return of the car as well.

Gray
24-05-2007, 17:12

To be fair, the Lorry driver can't say sorry... It's admitting liability, if your a prof. driver the last thing your company wants is you admitting liability at the time...

But IMO he should be beaten repeatedly until he learns not to be a tw*t...

Yea, well her sister is a solicitor that specialises in claims like this. She had had a history of back problems...it meant she had to have loads of specialist care due to the accident. She took them to the doors of the court after about 2 years of them offering settlement figures, where they made a final offer that she accepted. I got about £1600. Car was quite bad, but fixable thank God!

yea but tbh if you sued for 22k and she had FIXABLE back problems causing her no long term damage - wouldnt you say 22k is a bit greedy??

I'll be the first to say that the next accident i have i have i will be complaining of whiplash, back pain, mental scarring..... anything and everything.

I know its wrong to a degree but if i was able to get £22k it would go a long way to securing our financial future and would take a noticeable amount off the mortgage!

28-05-2007, 21:47
****ing hell dude.... hope your ok.

you have the worst luck with crashes. Thats two RSi's now

I had to live with her back pain almost as closely as she did and I can tell you it was a serious problem. £22k greedy? No.
