Hi,
I have just bought a williams two and am loving it. However, as I have to use daily to and from work I am finding that i am getting about 200 miles to about 43-45 litres of fuel, which works out to be about 21 mpg.
Is this normal? if not what could be wrong?
Its a heavy right foot!!!
Appreciate any advise.
Cheers.
Simon.

Depends mate,

I use mine as a daily driver and its only about a 15/20 min drive through traffic to work. But where it is being started on the choke to go to and from work each time i dumps more fuel in and generally does not run as efficient. Once it is up to temp it returns around 30+mpg i would say.

Short journeys will never return good mpg in these cars in my experience.

Its not a short journey about 50 mile round trip.
And only about 4 miles in total per day stuck in traffic.
Have noticed though that i lose two bars of fuel in morning just on starting.
Any ideas?

are you actually filling the tank right up or going off the fuel gauge.

Filling it right up and then running it down to empty. 209 miles last fill. £43.60!

Have a look at your plugs, may be running rich. More likely its just you ragging it everywhere!

Oh its def runinng rich just changed the plugs, leads and the engine temp coolant sensor and the old plugs were as a black as the ace of spades!
But still runnig really rich. how do you sort that out?

Clean the air filter and carb spray the TB. You might not be getting enough airflow to lean out out the mixture. 21 mpg is quite low mileage for the Williams.

Lamba Is my guess.

Thanks for your PM Simon, I live in Appleton, just past Botley, if you know it?

I know Oxford Car audio, may pop in soon, need a alpine-renault adapter to get my steering wheel controller to work the HU......you got them???

I have a fuel/air ratio tester if you need to test yours, and also a Snapon scanner we may be able to use.......the scanner tests all of your sensors & temps ect.

there is a link here somwhere on cheap lambda's

I normally get about 130miles out of £20 of V power.

130 Miles/4.35 Gallon= 30MPG

Mostly 15-20mins to uni (bypass) and around town stuff. Goes to 40ish MPG once on a motorway.

There you go, Daz is on the 2000RPM rule!

Change gear before/just on 2000RPM!

Mind you its is difficult to do

Ive just had 350miles to a full tank. Must admit its a rareity!

I was only getting around 250 when I first purchased mine but Ive calmed down alot now!
