There was a post somewhere, all teh reno boxes will fit, 1.2 clio, r5 etc, but all like chocolate (i think was the term) apart from possibly the williams one

megane jc5 will fit.... 1st gear is not as savagely short.. but is has very similar drives.
kango for silly acceleration and low top end..
a valver is ok.. and usually hold out well...

HOW TO **** A DIFF
Turn wheels to either side when stationary and nail your car... ie hard acceleration on full locks rtc.

172 box fits also JC5 129, but i'm not sure on the speedo drive etc etc

172 box will physically fit, but it uses the electrical speedo driver not the mechanical one... if someone could find a way round it (which surely can be done) then this would be ideal. The Cup gearbox has similar gearing and final drive to the Williams box iirc.

you should try a cup box out then, see how it lasts and drives! :D

how's the new gearbox holding up, is it faster at all??

Really havent had a decent go in the car yet, but at least know what my new knocking problem is. Once (if) thats resolved I can let you know.

I think that the 5 GT Turbo's fits F7P & F7R...

Also from Clio Sport 2lt fits but with some "tricks"...

the williams box was originally adapted from a R19 turbo diesel unit back in the early 90's - you could try one of those.

Why not fit a used box £250 or a brand new genuine renault box for £479 + vat. Pm me if your interested

After taking my box to bits about 5 times now i pretty much know what goes wrong with them and what to change. I have some spare parts here including new diff bearings! My main gear layshaft broke as it welded itself to the first gear cog, but its had new diff bearings in and can be rebuilt if i got a new 1st gear and shaft from reno but they aint cheap! So its either buy a broken gearbox and rebuild mine by using 1st gear and the shaft out of it or sell mine as spares, i.e you need a diff which i have in perfect working order :)
PS i have a new g/b in from reno thanks to j3ned
