Damn could those pics be any shitter! lol
Good lad!!!!!
Other bits to remove
A piller covers (done mine now)
Sunroof motor
Roof liner
glove box door
Wing mirror
Seatbelts?
Theres still more to come out of mine
yeah, roof lining to do....how easy to get the sunroof motor out? Think I'm gonna take out the dash too and just leave the speedo surround!
Great minds lol
Sunroof motor comes out piece of piss.....BUT the sunroof can open without it it so it needs modding. (taping shut)
Why did you have a garden pot in your car?
After working on the Williams I assume the yellow one is the same there loads of weight to remove.
1) Clean the arches (was about 1kg of soil under each wheel)
2) Remove the bits of plastic holding the wires to the side of the car (route them roundbetween the outside panels and the interier panel.
3) Remove the seatelt pretentioner.
4) Clean it
5) Remove the rear wiper and all associated pipe work all the way back to the pump them remove the pump and stick a bit of chewing gum over the hole. Also remove the electrical relays not used.
6)Remove the air vents.
7)Remove tha alarm.
Still looks like you got fair bit of weight out there I didn't know the car had that much in in the first place. But how do you open the windows?
I've put the button for the windows back on and I'm gonna tape them to the door to stop them getting slammed in the door. Gonna get poly carb windows soon anyway, also thinking maybe carbon bonnet and side exit zorst...
all thats left in mine at the moment is drivers seat(bucket seats on order),
the dash and roof lining/sunroof, gonna take rear wip[er motor out as soon as find a blanking plug for hole!
no carpets or sponge at all, removed all the pretensioner wiring and trigger box, radio box is empty now no speakers at all etc etc
quite heavy when u put it all in a pile! :) gone to the extreme of losing the subframe and box lol

And you don't technically need bumpers as long as there are no sharp extrustions.
Mat.
Hmm I'm not going banger racing! lol Some lighter bumpers would'nt go amiss though...they are not light as stnd.

Get some knackered ones and rip all the padding out of them, just leave the outer shell, and pray you don't hit anything!

Fookin hell.. madness  I bet that thing ****ing flies. You won't have enough weight in there to keep the ****er on the ground!
These 'stripped car' threads are getting a bit like the 'just washed' ones.
I take it she's not your daily drive then?!!
PS - Is your camera broke? lol!!
you've still got the carpet in?????? thats about 10kg!!!!!!
Yeah it is my daily drive...thats why I have a stereo! :) Oh and fred the carpet does'nt weight 10kgs....maybe 1 lol But it's coming out anyway...
the carpet and sound underlay weights 10kg in the 172's
Beware stripping can be addictive!

You can also recover a lot of wiring if your feeling brave. Must have removed about 1/3 of the total wiring from the car, I really have no idea what it was all supposed to do, but the car still works so who cares.
£20 says the dash stays out lol
Martin... we need a weigh bridge shoot out lmao

Yeah there is alot of wiring in there....I don't have a clue what does what though so I don't want to rip out something essential! :?

Aye would be interesting that....I'm thinking I can get sub 850kgs the amount of stuff I have taken out and the stuff thats still in there....

It does take quite a while to make sure your only recovering the wiring thats not needed, but their is a hell of a lot of wiring that was never used for anything. With the dash out, its the perfect chance.
Im guessing mine weighs 850 at the mo......get it under 800 and it will do 13's
Im ripping all kinds of stuff of it.....my also have a crack at the dash tomorrow
I'm looking for 13s next Monday! Wonder if they let you run with no bonnet at York!? :P
you knows it
im guessing 13.8@101mph
lol not sure about that I'd be happy with a anything better than Craig did in the beast..he did some pretty shit hot starts...
Easy
We shall see
Dash out
i love the commitment!
lol at martin!!!! what about the carpet!!!!
Finished the dash at 4 o clock...was bit of a blag getting the sound deadening out but I reckon there is a good 4-5kgs behind there...left the top dash off too as that ain't light...still got sunroof motor to remove. Unfortunatly my sunroof now seems to leaking since i took the roof lining out! :(
On the plus side the car feels faster overall I don't know whether it's psycological because there is more noise from the engine...but I like it!

I think maybe 720kg with extreme measures
i decided to loose the subframe/box and steering column, getting somestring and a hamster bowl to replace engine and steering lol will save alot of weight!
I've found the hamster wheel quite effective, but I got very tired, very quickly.
How about this for weight reduction....

It's only got two wheels you mad fool...how will you go round corners on that!!?
Very slowly at first
I want a bike, someting i can go stupidly fast on, and prolly end up killing, or badley injuring myself :D
My mates got a Gixxer 750, but he can't ride it to well yet... i can beat him through the twistys
Straights....well... erm  ....smoked lol

Ok, i took my wing mirror off today. Man these things are heavy. There is a lump of metal in them
I say take the wind mirror off. Remove the metal. Then mount the glass on a piece of balsa wood inside the wing mirror.
I reakon that would be another 2 kg's.
Good thinking fella...might just leave them off though less wind resistance! :D :P

Take the passenger one off. You only need two mirrors.
Also id run with one wiper. Take the passenger one off and use rain X. if picks up loads of resistance to smooth airflow over the car.
Also get a side exit exhaust. Bach box on car must be 10 kg's. Take it out the side and save that massive baxk box weight
Perspex windows
Small battery

Do it :D . Well, not the death or destruction bit, but you won't regret doing the first bit.
Mine's only a 600, but it's quick enough for me most of the time. It's only not when there are 750s and 1000s I'm trying to keep up with :(

Nick Hill also does a bag replacement for the wash bottle that contains less fluid and weighs less than the plastic washer bottle.
