View Full Version : Are they the same parts?
Would anyone know if the subframe from a 1.2 clio is the same as a 16v item?
I know the Williams is double skimmed, but are the others the same?
A guy locally is breaking a 1.2 and I aim to get the steering rack&column ready for my manual stereing convertion, and may get the subframe aswell so I can clean and repaint it.
Oh, & what about the seat runners??
Thanks
Pat
I believe richy said they are.....do a search on his posts to confirm ?
subframes are the same. seat runners are different between phases.
yeah my 1.2 subframe looks identical to the 16v one
Will depend on the car in question.
IIRC some subframes have a different internal shape (i.e. where the sump would sit) meaning a 16v won't go in without some "reshaping" - a.k.a sledgehammer.
They are all the same basic shape though.
Thanks guys.
While you are here...... do I definitly need the steering column for the manual steering convertion?
Someone said I can use the PS column but by suring it through 180d
Aye, PAS column is too short too reach a manual rack.
Great thanks.

You mean buying the manual items?

I know, £47 for a manual rack. I was asking how much for a manual column
I'm thinking the same as you though. Paint sub frame then fit new rack&column
