Right, dropped my engine back in today, what a day it has been! I'm FOOKED!

It's all running fine, although i can't test the clutch yet with the new 172 parts as i'm half way through changing the clutch pedal, argh!

Anyway, with the 172 longer arm and cable bracket, the standard airbox no longer fits! Those who have done this conversion before - what do you use? K&N? Hillpower joint? etc?

I'm not bothered about using a K&N but i don't want it running rubbish in the summer!

Cheers for any suggestions!

dremel the strengthening veins from the bottom of the airbox

Is that a tried and tested method? Does that give enough clearance for the arm to move freely?

Let us all know when you've tried it

and then tell me when you've tested it

I'd rather not destroy my gearbox by trying it, but i had a look, and on the bottom of my gearbox (near where the air feed pipe is), there are no strengthening veins. There's just nothing you can chop off really to give it clearance.

It might be possible to chop the air feed pipe off a bit and see if that helps, but it would still be very tight.

Might have another look when there's daylight!!
