dont buy a cam locking tool, its not needed provided you have a screwdriver to lock the crank off you done need a crank locking tool. you can use a spanner to turn the cams and you can hold the cams with the belt whilst you put it on.

well the new renault tools you dont even get a cam locking tool in the kit. provided you line the marks up i dont see what there is to not be confident about :? you can only line the marks up one way!

richy has one (and he also works for renault) and it doesnt have a cam locking tool present. only a crankshaft locking pin. i've done a belt with the correct kit and with a screwdriver and a spanner and it made the job no more difficult for me :)

pete, its not too bad..i was weary of not using one the first time... lock the crank out tdc and as per richy line up the belt... to line the top cam line you will need to use a spanner to force the cam in to alignment-the pulleys are under tension from the cam lobe position...
for increased confidence get a mate to assist looking/holding the bottom line on the crank pulley

Its not hard to get the marks lined up. Just check then re-check if you have any doubt.

aye the lining up was easy it was the bloody cranking it over to check it went around that got me ! (was to lazy to take out the spark plugs)

I used a screw driver and it was fine...

Top tip:
with the N/S road wheel on the ground, and the O/S road wheel raised, put the car in 5th gear and turn the O/S wheel to crank the engine over.
