View Full Version : is the bonnet slam panel welded in?

im wondering if the slam panel on a williams is welded in, reason i ask is, i could need one and i saw them for sale on ebay which makes me thing it just bolts on..

The middle section is bolted to the two trainglular looking bits, the triangular bits are welded to the inner arches.

16vs and williams were bolted in - the rest of the clio range were all one piece.

so does that mean its easy to pop off and replace then?

Yes, very easy. A few 13mm bolts removed and you are done.

Not really because you have the bonnet cable riveted into it too. Need to drill that out first.

ive seen a valver with a solid one piece slam panel, was a j reg tho.....

Also be prepared to tie the bonnet to the wing mirror or something to stop if dropping forward and bending

Sorry - had assumed the bonnet would have been taken off before you removed the slam panel (e.g. engine removal) but I suppose there is no reason why it wouldn't be done in isolation (e.g. replacing the panel)!

Must have had a new front end at some point then and they are all bolted on.
