clutch cable change

hi all can anyone help with prob i have sure its a common one snapped clutch cable this week so got renault replacement cable and changed been out in car today and am having probs with gear selection up and down the box its intermittent apart from reverse which is a bitch to select seems pumping the pedal seems to help but no idea why so have i screwed up or is the pedal assembly in need of changing :( :( :( :(

You sure you've routed it correctly?

my first cable change so followed cable route from original cable under battery tray along route of cable clips on inner wing along steering rack then up into bulkhead so pretty sure all ok followed guide on forum only thing in guide it mentions is that the ratchet mech should click as it adjusts up cant say i heard much clicking goin on :( :(
