and the aim was to buy a car, and mod it, using only bits you have lying around.

what would you end up with?

I don't have a single car part anywhere in my garage, so I guess it would be whatever I could find on ebay

Predictable choice from me then - E30 325i. Although a Valver, 205/309 GTi and Mk2 Golf GTi would be potentials. Loadsa stuff out there 8)

Dad's unused wheel chair
Mum's petrol-powered push lawn-mower
And spend the rest of the money figuring how to steer and brake! :D

sorry mate..4 wheels, would have to be 100 bhp + for me to test pilot ;)

could always whack a cheap v8 in lol.

tis a toughie tbh....could get a 1/2 decent 309, mi16 and carb it....much prefer these to the 205s tbh.

clio would be mainly a valver with 2.0, or summat like a van with 5gtt lump in or summat. pick a van up for £100.leaves 900 to mod lol

id be very tempted with a nike engined mini tbh. mite be a bit of work like, and overall cost might shade a grand, but it could be done fairly cheap dependant on original purchase costs.

lol @ gunner......ud get a non running 250bhp turbo.........or shud that be 0bhp turbo ;)

If it's car on a shoestring budget, then will probably be an early 80s Starlet with whatever 1.6L to 2L RWD engine that I can find/squeeze in.

Volvo 340 1.7 and then source a 1.8 16v engine from a R19.
Strip it out with a mig spec diff.
Be good fun that.

if i used what i have in the garage it would be a williams 3 running slicks/200lb springs/std interior but a 1.8 16v in the back and 2.0 in the front lol

but going off what u said a car for less then 1k, i got my 16v for 900, and everything on/in it is out of the garage(cages/buckets/4pots/lowered/zorst/decat) barring a few small things its almost the same

i would purchase a renault 5 campus for less than £250 and a volvo 480 turbo for less than £250. swap the volvo engine into the r5, get a log manifold made up to fit the t28 turbo i have in the garage. use the jb3 r5gtt gearbox i have in the garage. try find some r21 injectors to use and use a cam from a volvo 480 1.8 n/a engine. then drive the car up north to see the pervy mechanic and get the ecu remapped to run 18psi.

would be looking at around 220bhp in a r5 campus that you could strip down to 700kg for well less than £1000

now that you mention it i just happend to have purchased a r5 campus for £250

cant decide if to go for the volvo turbo route or stick a f7p in it and look to supercharge it later on, just to be different and make a beast for the track. either way ive got my clio 16v front and rear suspension to fit to it 1st, will make the track just a bit wider on the front though
