steering wheel height

is it possible to lower the steering wheel on a mk1 valver ?

my mates just done it on his mini and i was thinkikng how high mine is with buckets in any ideas anyone ?

Only way i could think of is by putting washers/spacer between the bulkhead and column where it bolts up but this isnt ideal and you wouldnt be able to lower it by much due to the length of the studs and bolts that fix it up.
