5 Litres, so 20 - 40 odd miles, depending on how you drive.

Or 15 if you drive like Bass.

ahhh just filled the 7.3 turbo diesel ford F250 up, i think we are paying $2.60 a gallon, just less than 1.50GBP 8) hate to rub it in but you know..... haha i'll get a pic of the beast for all you truck loving fancies!

fitted it last summer with 5 inch straight through exhaust, turbo back, custom induction kit with custom ceramic heat shield in the making. remapped and running 80bhp over standard and 100lbs torque over standard. it truly is a beast! haha watch this space...

haha to give it its full title its a :

2000 ford F250 superduty, crew cab, extended bed (12 foot) powerstroke 7.3 turbo diesel!

yeah its a beast! and believe it or not its an animal on performance! with the maximum uprated tuning package chosen, takes 30 seconds to switch between 4 different settings, it runs stupid power and accelleration is amazing! beats most things around and its the size of a bus! the exhaust itself that i fitted is virtually 20feet long! haha the ride is great, obviously its an auto so its smooth as silk. running costs? prob the same upkeep as a mitsi Evo, but around 8mpg! 8)

About 5-10 litres (1-2 gallons) left when light starts to flicker. The emptiest the tank has been is about 6 litres left.

Don't forget that an American gallon is less that the english gallon so you'll have to rework your figures :p (i.e. it's more expensive than you first thing, but still very cheap). What fuel you using? 88 PON ?

08-04-2007, 02:45
yeah a US gallon is different (circa 3.8 litres per gallon iirc) but my equation was relating to cost not volume so my statement reads correct

I'll work out the equivalent pence per litre when i get back from the cinema later.... i know you all cant wait!

drsmith1979
08-04-2007, 06:03
okey dokies, lets have a crack at this! haha totally something you would get in a year 10 maths exam! haha takes you back huh?...

right, lets say the going rate for fuel is $2.60 per US gallon. im going to go the long way round just because i wana ok?! Seeing as though a litre is a common measurement to both the UK and the US, i am going to do the following to deduce the cost of US petrol per litre

$2.60 per US gallon = 3.8 litres thus $2.60 / 3.8 = 68 cents per litre.

so therefore the cost of a UK gallon would be 68 cents x 4.5 = $3.06

$3.06 / an exchange rate of circa $1.86 = 1.64GBP

the equivalent in the UK would be .90p x 4.5 = 4.05GBP

which is nearly 2.5x's the cost of petrol / diesel here in the states. which is still alot!

Feel free to check the maths and let me know if there are any mistakes, bin a while since ive done such problem solving! haha

as for PON rating i dont know, i will check when im next at the 'gas station' 8)

I always thought the reserve tank was huge tbh; this is because on that vid of martin doing 150 he is on the reserve tank and probably doing not alot to the gallon but seems to keep going and going.

I just got 36 mpg for last fill up. That's a mix of traffic jams/urban/national speed limit roads and a little motorway driving.

Used 44.44 litres(8.888 english gallons) and did 320 miles before filling up.

The pain though is I that fuel is going up in price again :( paid 90.9p per litre for regular unleaded at morrisons :( Used to pay 86.9p for super unleaded at sainsburys not that's upto about £ 92.9p :( Those pennies turn into pounds (about £2.50-£3 extra per fill). Why has it risen so much?

When below the empty line and onto R I have about 10-12 litres left I estimate. The constant on light I happens when I have about 5-7 litres left (as I found today). I haven't noticed the reserve light come on for a few seconds in a while though so can't comment on that. It "Should" come on when you have 10-12 litres left I believe (size of the reserve tank is 10 litres).

I tend to top up when the light comes on, after all thats your indicator to "get fuel soon" However, i have been a few miles out when the light has come on and made it around 22 miles or so.
