Speedo clip of the beast from tonight!

70-100 wasn't the best as i had to lift off for a car so it should have been lots quicker. 0-60 looks to be under 7 secs tho which gives an indication of the potential.

Enjoy! :)

I'm guessing from the title it has a standard Clio RSI engine?

Out of interest how much does the R5 weigh with the RSI lump in?

No offence , but how can a 110bhp RSI lump get you from 0-60 in <7secs?

5s do weight nowt though mate so it won't take much...

they also are a little more torquier
than a f7p believe it or not

Yep the 5 weighs nothing...its a base spec campus shell with some stripping and running 13" GTT wheels (circ 6kg each).

Actual weight i don't know but i'd probably R5 campus or less...as standard i think they're about 750kg anyway?

PAS is removed (so an extra 5bhp i reckon) and as above, the RSi is more torquier than a 16v!

Tempted to get a 2ltr 8v in as the torque will be massive (more than a willy lump IIRC) but will need to see, its not bad as is TBH and theres other stuff that needs doing.

I had a 16v with cams and this is defo quicker...best bit is car and engine were had for under 400quid :)

The Laguna 2.0 8v engine does not have more torque than the willy lump im affraid mate. I think willy lump comes in at nearly 130ft/lb plus it pulls like a train compared to the F7P. A willy lump in that R5 will defo get into 14's on standard basis down pod. Leave the F3P lump in there and get a cam, head work and remap see what happens

its all about powere to weight, my mates 2l nova (150 bhp) would eat a willy clio (same power) cos the kerb weight of the nova is alot less than that of the willy!!

but i know which one i would rather be behind the wheel of!!

cammed valvers are slow! especially standard weight, you of all people should know this :P :D

IIRC willy torque is 175Nm @ 4500 rpm and the 2ltr 8v BE is apparently 165Nm at 3500rpm.

I've heard it could possibly be more but even going on these figures that should make for a pretty even match car-for-car!

As for the RSI lump in mine being quicker than a cammed 16v...well i've had both so think i can make that comment. If you want a second opinion though, dig back through the forum for posts by Lunner in his Clio on track days - it went pretty well against 16vs and that RSI wasn't even in a R5 shell...

I know what your saying mate, the 16v lump takes alot of encouragement, doesnt give any real show of performance until 4,000rpm and just seems to rev alot. The F7R is different, pulling from 2,500rpm pretty strong....bhp is needed to propel the car to a higher top end quicker, past around 60mph this is where teh extra bhp comes in handy. I was watching the speedo in my clio yesterday (i know I should have been looking at the road) but it was clear and when I changed into second, it would skip 15mph and read 45mph straight away and keep pulling
