had a long day and not thinking well...

battery light came on, charge in the bettery is a steady 12.17v when running, then with full electrical load goes to 11.97v but wont drop below. when revs are raised the voltage goes right up past 15v for less than a split second, then straight back to 12.17v. cant make it drop atall.

alternator fubared?

mine charges at a steady 14 volts.

for the ease of it i'dchange it...as a last resort naturally.

should really be a constant voltage. for £5 you can buy an alternator tester from halfords..

when mine failed..it failed on the motorway.. i lost all power completely. i had to let the AA chgarge me up for a while and then using the battery charge drive 60 mph...at night with no lights to let the power last a bit longer.lol

spares go for £15-20 on jhere..or £100 at your local shop

Piece of piss, just fiddly.

Headlight out and bonnet off (makes it much easier) and your there.

Took me around 4-5 hours to get it off and back on.

Just fiddly.

Im sure there are quicker than me though!

well found out that the 19's is different to the clios. arse. fitted the regulator pack from the back of the clios one to the 19's and it ran fine, until i got into town and smoke started pouring out from under the bonnet and the alternator had melted. and was still on fire
