It looks like a bolt that has been used to tension the cambelt wheel up mate. One good design on these cars !
You should be able to wind it completly out aslong as the tensioner wheel is tight.
christ, its a good job i asked on here, i was about to do it up, back IN !
yeah need to remove it as if it falls out could get stuck some where.

Now he has the dilemma of weather to take it out or not?
It might be just sitting there doing nothing waiting to fall out, or they might have forgotten to tighten up the tensioner and this is infact the only thing keeping his cambelt taut!
Mat.
Yeah lol I was just gonna say same as mat, they forgot to remove that, so maybe they forgot to tighten the tensioner bolt also...
Nice work, lol.
Oh by the way there is an easy solution to the above:
Undo the bolt slowly about a quarter/half a turn (make sure u know how much you have turned it).
Now do the bolt up by the same amount - You should feel ZERO resistance, as there is nothing the bolt is torquing up against. Once you get back to the same position you should feel the resistance again.
ive already rang and asked lol, Andy said its fine to take out
