got the bits from Renault and went to fit them onto the car

now the bottom part of the bracket i can get on with not much problem, the top bolt however i thought would thread in, but it doesnt, it just falls down

is that bolt supposed to go into the box or have a nut underneath it, either way the bolt i got from Ren is too short, especially with the bracket fitted, as the end of the bolt wouldnt even come out of the bottom

should be a nut that gets pulled up into the gearbox to body mounting mate.

Your missing the extra black bracket that goes over the top of the gearbox mount and helps hold the mount down.

bought the bracket mate from Renault today

could you explain that first bit, a bit more, i dont understand, do i just need to go buy a nut and put it underneath, and a longer bolt

the nut i forgot to order is 77 03 032 103 but is it a special nut in any way, or will any nut do that i go and buy

not much more to explain.

I carnt remember if its a Nyloc nut or normal one....hold it with your hand till the bolt bites - then it will tighten up. I think the bolt is the right length tbh.

well on that pic i dont have the bracket fitted, so the bolt would sit further up than that, it also has a washer aswell making it sit even further up

do you mean the nut goes up into that box mount to box metal piece ?

as in, you wouldnt be able to see it from the bottom

Thats a williams bracket btw - a valver one is a L shape and just goes down the back not a C shape pictured which goes to the front aswell.

Thats right.

Is the nut definatly missing - might be still there ? and stuck fast ?

BRUN

well the bolt just drops all the way through, so it cant be there if the nut goes up into the bottom

on that pic ive took where u can see the bottom of the new bolt, i just dropped the bolt in from the top, didnt have to do it up

BRUN

also if it goes up into the bottom, how am i going to tighten up the bolt from the top, as the nut would just spin wouldnt it ?

no the nut is held by the casting mate so it doesnt rotate.

Get a correct nut - and fit to the exposed part of the bolt - tighten the bolt and it will pull the nut up. You should be able to then torque the bolt up as per the haynes manual.

so basically i need to order the nut from Renault, or it probably wont fit ?

dont suppose anyone knows the size, the bolt is a 16mm head, would that suggest the nut would be a 16mm aswell

The bolt will be a M* something -

Get the correct nut mate - they are the best imo

take the bolt to your nearest nut and bolt shop - and get two styles.

Normal and nyloc to fit it.

Then see which one fits. Im sure its just a normal nut.

LOL @ Mat ^^
does it only happen at a certain rev
have you tried it in gear with handbrake on
it must be some movement somewhere creating the vibrations or catching on something
sorry cant help more than random guessing :(

its worse in reverse, in reverse it does it a lot

mainly between 1.5k and 2.5k

im pretty sure its exhaust related but when we had a look at it when on the ramps everything looked fine

im gettin the exhaust looked at on Tuesday

I think Ive already suggested this somewhere lol...but try shifting the engine forward on the side mount.

If its been set back to far, it will cause problems.

BRUN

the one on the drivers side ?

ive never fiddled with mounts so would i just loosen the bolts slightly and push the engine ?

stan

yup the one on the drivers side...slacken the four 16mm bolts, and shift the engine forward. depending how gay you are will determine how hard you find this

how far forward...........do they not have any alignment to them ?........i wouldnt wanna stress the box mount by doing it wrong

stan
05-04-2007, 10:05
u wont stress anything,,,,theres about 1/2" movement in all directions.

BRUN
05-04-2007, 22:23
so just move it which ever way it will go ?

MAXIBOY

haynes say there should be a minimum of 29mm between the plastic cover over the crankshaft pulley and the edge of the body next to the strengthening rod

no, shift it forwards...so that the engine is sitting further away from the rear.
