I use Mobil 1 0w/40 although manufactures recommendation is 10/40.

Best bet is to try a few and see which you prefer, its been discussed many times before and tends to be down to personal preference.

:D

i use 5W-40

it depends on the age of the car and condition aswell, in a year or so i may switch to 10W-50

it's a 93/94 williams 1 with 77k, been stood for 6 months.

if its been sat mate, go to tesco, buy some crap awful cheap fully of semi synth oil and run that with a new filter for 500 odd miles, then change the filter again and put the expensive oil in. did that in my old valver, the sacraficial oil got filthy in seconds, but after that the posh stuff will last longer and be more efficient as all the crap will of come out in the cheap stuff! 8)

I only ever use Shell Helix semi 10-40, it's good stuff, but as suggested it may be worth trying a few to get a personal preference

I've used the Elf Excellium from the stealers and I liked it - things quiten down quickly.

Bizarrely the Fuchs stuff that Ben put in on my service takes longer to stop being top-endy :? :(

Don't use magnatec though, whatever you do LoL

it makes your car sounds like a bag of spanners

Has anybody ever tried Shell Helix Racing 10-60 semi, I've only ever seen it in Demon Tweeks, says not recommended for road use? Just wondered what it's like?

It's a bit too thick when warm isn't it? (the 60 bit)

Even on track I thought the recommendation was 50 as a max?

BRUN

yea a 60 would be too much really i think, especially for a road car

i use 10/40 that gtx stuff takes a wile for the engine to shut up tho.
Any one recomend me a better 10/40 oil?????
I tried 5/30or 40 (cant remember) and found it was just drinking too much!

Im using 5w40 chevron fully synth stuff from costco, about £12 for 4L and no nasty tapping or anything, good oil puresure and rarely goes about 100 unless im really thrashing it :) been using it for 40k on various cars and its good stuff.

Read that guide that the Opeoils bloke made he tells you all the pros and cons on what oil and decide what you want to use!
