finding out a phone number?

how can you find out a houses phone number, tried thompsons directory but no joy, is there a way with just the address?

hope i'm not being thick here and missing something obvious :roll:

depends, ususally listed by occupiers surname and if they are ex directory u cant get the number

i've got the surname but its not in the directory, does that mean its a no hoper?

choose the people category,
put in the first and surname and the location ie i used county.

scroll down to electorial register or something like that and they should appear altho it doesnt have the numbers for everyone. im ex-directory and my number appears! :?
