So this is my "Super Top Secret Project" that I've been working on since December.
I wanted to wait until it was all finished before I posted, but it's taken so long with setback after setback, including have to take it to a garage for a repair only for them to **** around with it for a month and return it with bits left off (Four Winds in Berinsfield named and shamed! ****ing cowboys  ). Now I've found that the Bloody Rtuner software won't communicate with the ECU so I can't map it. The Tax will run out next week and we're about move, so it looks like it will soon be sitting in our new garage doing nothing. :headbutt:

Clio Turbo KJ-style. 100% homebuild not a single piece of BBtuning -or anyone else's- kit in there. Might of been easier if it had, but that's not the point, is it! (is it? :? ). It's still a work-in-progress, hence the trick piece of rope. But it works (for now) and, according to my butt-dyno, I'd say at the 4000 rpm half-throttle I've driven at it's approx. 1 million bhp ATW (uncorrected figures of course)

V. short spec:
Nissan 200SX Garrett T25 (for now)
S/steel manifold
S/steel tubular twin downpipe; 2" Exducer, 1.5" dump
Fastchip Rtuner chip with turbo basemap
R21 Turbo injectors
R21 Turbo MAP sensor
R21 Turbo intercooler

BBT manifold - £400

KJT manifold - not £400!

Turbo engine bay and damn sexy rope again

Cheeky intercooler, hidden behind still grille but it doesn't come out on the photo

More to come...

very nice mate! how did u make the manifold??

Ah, it's a closely held engineering secret!
Actually, it's made from four s/steel pipe fittings - two 'tees' and two '90 deg elbows. The flange came from someone off of here, and the turbo flange came from across the pond.

This method of making manifolds is very common in the States where the DIY turbo scene is big, but nobody does it here. It was a proper mission trying to find out what those pipe fittings were called. In the US they're called 'els' but here nobody knows what the hell they are.

Cheers all

Update for anyone with a similar project: Don't bother with Rtuner from Fastchip. It doesn't work properly. Even though your car will run wonderfully, the software won't communicate with the chip so you can't map it.

Henk, the maker of Rtuner said there have been a lot of customers with the same problem. Apparently some computers work and others don't
So why sell the crap for years if people have been complaining?
So I'll be ****ing it off in favour of management that works properly

I used a gas tester today to check CO level and it was 1%. Dammit, I need 0.5% to pass an MOT! :x

On the plus side, it goes like stink and sounds the bollocks :D

well done :-)

Thnx. Problem with going to somewhere like Chipwizards is

a) Getting there - MOT has ran out and so will tax - v. long way to get trailored

b) Every time I change something I would have to take it down to be remapped.

Hey Gunner. I'm gonna have to send back this Rtuner pants, which means no basemap and no working car. Do you have any of those Turbo chips you said were going to get a while back that I could use in the meantime?

PM'd

And, do you have any good quality pics of the entire engine bay ?

Legendary mate! When its back on the road you gotta pop down and give me a ride in that beast - i owe you a ride in the Pulsar too, would be good to compare

Sorry Gunner, I thought I'd answered your PM. I took them from any car in the scrapyard that had them! Most cars have them. Make sure you get ones with the right sized tails to fit your hoses.

Short update on precedings: I've gone with Fastchip afterall. Henk was very helpful and sent me a beta-version of his new USB Rtuner with does away with the old COM port styuppid-ness. The new board and software work fine and now the chip's actually mappable!

Much more has happened in the meantime, but more on that later.
