only done one long run in the willy. Every other time it's broke. Did well over 300miles tho.

172 struggles to get over 300!

Coming up the road with my new hybrid I did about 250 miles and had a good bit left, and it wasn't even from a full tank tbh. Can't believe how annoying the fuel gauge is though, I had heard people talking before about how the valver gauge is all over the place on the last 1/4 of the tank but mine is rediculous. It can be sitting on the 1/4 mark on the gauge then you boot it and the light will come on and then after a while it'll be back up near the 1/4 mark, lol. Don't think I would trust taking it right down to near empty with that fuel gauge, lol.

I get 350 miles from my girlfriends 1.1 saxo. Takes about £30 to fill the tank.

I'm sure that aint right if some of you valver/willy boys are getting close to that with a leadfoot! lol

The lambda sensor is fooked though so thats probably why

Never counted how much i got on my valver, and haven't had a chance to count on the hybrid yet! It's in bits!

Still got juice left so guna see how far can git b4 run out lol

I wouldn't let it run out of petrol if i were you... Good luck getting it started after you refill lol!

I did that once just for a laugh in my old valver, and my god did i regret it. Filled it from a petrol can and it wouldn't start for ages, the battery was almost flat when it did eventually start (well, i say start, but splutter is more appropriate!)

The revs were all over the place when it started and it was on the verge of stalling, had to keep my foot on the accelerator to keep it going.

When the revs stabilized i took it out for a drive, and there was just no power at all, even when flooring it, nothing happened.

All this was due to it pumping all the crap out of the petrol tank into the engine.

Eventually it was fine but i wouldn't do it again, lol

Not recommended!

so u didnt run a fuel filter then? :?

the inline fuel filter should stop the crap going through, although i do agree the injectors may not like it if crap fuel was getting through.

the aux tank pumps to main tank when really empty, then when this runs dry you get a nice whine. thats when u know u are really empty!!! lol

That's very good.
Don't forget it will cost about £40-£50 to fill the 16v/willy.

update: i filled up yesterday and iv done 60 miles so far and iv just hit the top marker (you know how you get that bit that goes of the scale), i think 60 miles is very good so far!

would the fact iv run a few tanks of optimax through make a difference???

Ive got a RSi... do mixed miles mostly town and dual carriage way, driving sensible i get around 260 to a full tank!

Are RSi's just bad on fuel consumption?

Havn't had chance to check my valver, and off road now.
But i used to get about 250 miles out of a tank on my 1993 Celica GT4 with a mix of hard and normal driving on country roads! Sure will get more that that outta the clio??? (That's why i bought it!!)
Took about £55 to fill the celica tank from really empty.
Running a 306 D-Turbo at the moment, get about 500 miles out of a tank full :D sounds shit though :(

Allan
03-04-2007, 21:08
usualy get about 90 miles out of 10 quid, or 350 from a tank, but have been known to get through 20 quid in an hours worth of hard backroads :S
