I bought a clio hybrid yesterday but noticed there is a bit of a noise coming from the engine bay when the engine is warmed up. I took a video of it which I've put on youtube and you can see HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzVjA9AofIw).

It's coming from the drives side and I'm guessin its to do with one of the belts but I'm not really sure tbh. As I say though you can only hear it when the engine has warmed up a bit.

Thanks.

its not a belt, its the little oil breather in the video, is that connected to the big pipe on the rocker cover? for some reason when they arent on the o/e pipe they make that whistling noise

lol, 100% sure yeah? That had crossed my mind but I wasn't sure. It would explain why the noise wasn't being made until I'd been driving a while. When I stopped at the first service station I found the breather had fallen off so had to reatach it and it might have been after that the noise started.

not 100 percent no but it looks a high possibility, make sure its properly re-attached, and if in b doubt whip the whole lot off so the rocker has nothing attached and stick your ear next to the breather pipe on the rocker. shud be able to hear the noise clearly then

well am i the only one that notices the
noise is not constant but is happening
periodically ,like something revolving is
making it ??

either water pump ,alternator or p/s pump in that area
just get the belt out and run the engine to see if
the noise is still there .

lol, I reckon (or at least hope ;)) coops is right. I'll check if it's the breather tomorrow and let you know.

Its not the breather :( . I took it off, blocked the pipe with my hand but the noise continued exactly as before. It sound as though its coming from the belt just below the breather, or at least something in that area tbh. I know it had a new alternator recently but that the belt wasn't replaced at the time - a possibility?

Sorry to dredge this up, but what did it end up being? I've got a noise and I don't think it's water pump, it's like an intermittent noise coming (I think) from under the two driver side injectors, so yea, PS pump probably. It's like an intermittent squeaking noise.

If it is the PS pump, why would it do this and how do I fix it? Replace it or just bleed?
