Looking at "hybreeding" the valver in the near future,
Was just wondering which way usually gets the best gains.

Meggy bottom end with Willy head (rofl "willy head")
Or complete williams conversion?

Also am looking for ~170 brake to start with can this be acheived with cams, pullies and breathing mods?

Cheers Bailey

:S sorry, i promise i wont EVER ask again! :D

So bottom ends dont matter and the williams head is better.

Where would i look for the parts and what is the best way of tansporting them?

depends tbh.

a meg or willy btm end...dont really matter there

willy head is better than valver head.......but then valver head better if u gunna start messin about wi valve sizes etc.

Think i am going to leave it as is, i am not looking to build the fastest clio just a quick one :D

Where are good places to look for these bits other than matt black, CS and WC?

What sort of modding does the meggy bottom end need? as in mounts etc and are the 16v and 8v the same?

Just been looking and i might aswell buy a meggy and scrap the shell for what i would be paying for a willy lump.

no mods to the bottom end, just bolt it up to a 16v head and off you go

I think you need to put a 16v/williams flywheel on there as well irrc.

look for a JC5 box, willy box will fit straight on and mount up perfect of course

172 cup box is pretty much the same as a williams box and an R19 box is the same as a 16v box, they'll all fit if you use the R19 lower mount or modify the top mount

Its me thats got the 172 gearbox on the hybrid. I didn't put it on but the previous owner had a mount custom made for it - the box feels really nice when your driving it, much better than any Mk1's i've driven tbh. I don't know if thats a coincidence or if they are generally better though.

there the same box within reason, its most likely down to the fact most 16vs/willy boxs have alot of miles on the backs, i bought a brand new box for my williams and its 100x better then the old one, nice n tight n crisp, not sloppy lol

Dont fancy getting a whole new box circa 5000 notes IIRC.

Don do you know what work needs going into the cup box or can you put me in contact with the previous owner (If a member of WC RS CS etc) Cheers

new box is 600 odd notes. cup box needs a mount under the battery tray making from scratch

richy
26-03-2007, 20:00
yeah you can get them for 600ish from reno, not 5000 lol bit ott that!

also i beleive if you plan to run just a r19/172 mount without the top box mount you will need to change the dogbone set up for the meg/r19 rear mount as the dogbone isnt for the weight of the engine resting on it like the meg/r19 lower mount is!

also i beleive that dont fit with pas rack of the clio without modding
