Im looking into having Powerflex manafacture us some replacment fastroad & track bushes for the williams and 16v dogbones.

This will be the first fast road part made for wc...and will be branded accordingly :winkey:

The kit (if powerflex can do it) will be supplied with a new 'purple' solid rubber and stainless steel insert that you press in yourself.

Prices to be confirmed.

Can i have a idea of numbers who would be able to order one for the initial group buy.

Northy.

thanks guys.

Everyone who knows me knows i take my time...our kid is finding that it at his peril.

The dogbone is now complete but i need someone to test it for me who can give 100% feedback and recognise if there is any improvment over standard.

I will supply this dogbone complete that just requires fitting and testing.

Once feedback has been recieved i will relay this back to powerflex for any improvements.

from what powerflex have said its a top hat design - so i would say its two bushes that push in with a stainless steel sleeve to hold them together.

Not sure till i get the bush and strip it down early next week.

The price is £32.95+ vat = £38.71

The group buy price i can get club discount @ 30% off - which makes it £27.10 each.

The group buy has to go through myself unfortunatly - so can you send payments to the following account please if you want a kit.

If you want a kit can you add your name to the below list and i will pm you my account details.

I have seen numerous dog bones snap in half due to the brittle metal etc.

i tried to do these at home....as a diy job should be able to be done.

unfortunately the old bushes will need to be pressed out, so not exactly a diy job.

will be taking the kids to school this mornin, then goin for a bit of a blast see how it is, then home to swap dogbones, thenout again.

should know a little mopre this pm.

but from what iv heard/seen on the 172 ones, they start ripping the box to bits, threading the box where the bolts hold the mount to the box, too stiff??

only 1 way to find out

btw ...i hope they willing to replace any damage incurred whilst testing ;)

northy
24-05-2007, 08:48
the williams dogbones dont fit the same as the 172 ones as far as i know mate....as u know ours go to the subframe and to a bracket that goes to the gearbox......172 are direct to the gearbox ?

2 live
24-05-2007, 08:52
aye, but if they as stiff.theyl still cause damage to the casing. the engine will rock , the hardness of the mount will stop it, but the softness of the alloy casing wont, after a while the holes where the bracket goes will become elongated is my guess, which will then render the box useless, almost.

northy
24-05-2007, 09:00
I dont think these are that hard mate tbh. If they were the purple version i could agreee. I think the material is quiet soft tbh.

Get it fitted mate !!!

2 live
24-05-2007, 09:09
yeah the yellow a lot softer than the purple. would be nice to know that any breakages due to fitting would be covered by powerflex's r&d fund tho ;)

i break enough gearboxes on me own, dont need anyone elses help ;) lol

BRUN
24-05-2007, 20:02
i want one but i still want a little give to it, the purple bushes they do IMO might be too stiff for an engine mount such as this

2 live
25-05-2007, 16:13
fitted today.

initial reactions....hardly any diff to oe, feels dare i say it.even softer tbh.

will give it a proper run later on as to how it feels.

BRUN
26-05-2007, 19:39
softer than OE ?........you sure ?

mikeymikewakey
26-05-2007, 20:12
MY goodness...

so whats the order of stiffness with these powerflex bushes?

From soft to hard is it yellow - purple - black?

Mike

northy
29-05-2007, 07:40
not sure what comes after purple....

Nice one Jon.

Like i said i think there is good improvment to be had over standard.....

2 live
29-05-2007, 11:12
well.gave it a good run over the weekend, feels pretty much exactly the same as a brand new oe one. which was fitted b4 this.

altho it has to be said, this is with the r19 box mount in place also, so movement was limited to start with.

definately not a do at home job tho, unless you happen to have a 20 ton press inyour workshop.

cost me a fiver to get the old bushes pressed out, the new uns dont need to be pressed in tho. the big one looked a little too wide in all honesty, maybe a couple mm could be trimmed from the inner bit of one of these, should have got pics while it was off the car.....only the bracket to hold the bush in place, which is ok, but maybe after some time getting abused, it could slip out of the dog bone ?? only time will tell really.

all good so far tho.

BRUN
29-05-2007, 20:17
IMO they should need pressing in, otherwise in time they could just fall out
