Im looking into having Powerflex manafacture us some replacment fastroad & track bushes for the williams and 16v dogbones.
This will be the first fast road part made for wc...and will be branded accordingly :winkey:
The kit (if powerflex can do it) will be supplied with a new 'purple' solid rubber and stainless steel insert that you press in yourself.
Prices to be confirmed.
Can i have a idea of numbers who would be able to order one for the initial group buy.
Northy.
same as stew aslong as it isnt a daft price then i will have 1 maybe 2 for both cars!

rite so wen can we get a full dog bone/susp bush kit?? and how much......want full set asap now lol.
Heh, this is northy we are talking about, fast expedite ain't exactly his strong suit. :D
i know mate...but the susp kit is now available ....so shunt take em long to knock a bush up for the dog bone....only a couple nylon blocks wi hles drilled in em really lol.
hes as fast at stuff like this as he is on the track............;)
thanks guys.
Everyone who knows me knows i take my time...our kid is finding that it at his peril.
The dogbone is now complete but i need someone to test it for me who can give 100% feedback and recognise if there is any improvment over standard.
I will supply this dogbone complete that just requires fitting and testing.
Once feedback has been recieved i will relay this back to powerflex for any improvements.

Great work. Thanks for your efforts in getting this created and tested. Let me know when they are ready to be ordered as I'll deffo have one.
any pictures of it yet ??
also remember an uprated dogbone is £60 from hillpower with discount and about £30 for renault so assuming its somewhere inbetween those prices it should be spot on + allowance for having to remove your own and press in the new part.

interested but what sort of improvements can be expected? :D
any idea when we can get these northy? id like one still!
I will email them and find out pal

any chance of them making 2 samples, lol, i need to replace mine asap
make 3  , ill have one!
mines shot and needs replacing ASAP, at this rate i'm gonna have to pass on it! its taking too long
i need to know asap how long this is going to take as i need to replace mine soon
any idea on price yet
No.
I will let you know asap brun.
bump! eager beaver here!
i emailed powerflex to find out:
"It will be a couple of weeks before we have a sample to test. It will be
fitted to a vehicle and driven for a week or so then released subject to
our approval.
3 weeks or so, to answer your queston..."
being realistic its looking like a month or longer isnt it
yeah looking at it = far too long
glad youve got a email brun lol
My email has come....the prototype will be shipped today for testing.
I will keep you updated guys.
so wen can i expect it here?? ;)
cool. will be able to test it on 1 with and without r19 mount too, and against old n new dog bones.
dont think itl make much diff on the 1 with r19 mount tho tbh.
:) nice one
my car seems more driveable now so its not as urgent, a lot of my vibration problem has slowly disappeared, i still want one though
The williamsclio dogbone has been finished - here is a sneak preview that i have recieved from Powerflex
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y107/northy_com/dogbone.jpg
northy is the larger part of the dogbone bush 2 pieces that slides in from both sides? looks good tho so get a move on and get me one ordered lol
Wow! That looks like it will hold the space shuttle together. Can I just buy the bushes now as I am about the change mounts and stuff? How much are they?

from what powerflex have said its a top hat design - so i would say its two bushes that push in with a stainless steel sleeve to hold them together.
Not sure till i get the bush and strip it down early next week.

I dont know yet pal.
Once i give feedback on these they will be forsale. I will arrange a group buy price and do a group order.
Look good dont they !
P.S this is my race car bush which was used as inspiration !

That looks potentially uncomfortable!
nice one, i had a powerflex one for the VTR, very good, never snapped one after that lol just you could feel the vibrations through the car but i could live with that :D
Ok - news just in
The price is £32.95+ vat = £38.71
The group buy price i can get club discount @ 30% off - which makes it £27.10 each.
The group buy has to go through myself unfortunatly - so can you send payments to the following account please if you want a kit.
If you want a kit can you add your name to the below list and i will pm you my account details.
Why does it look piss easy to change - is that because it is?
Who testing it? Over the next few days? Need a quick feedback on any strong vibrations with the powerflex. And ease of swapping the bushes. Thanks.

one question i have northy, is the yellow stuff that powerflex use any harder/softer than the purple stuff or is it the same stuff just a different colour
p.s. i can pick it up from Wigan if its easier for you, usually 5 mins from yours every weekend

Added my name to the list above. The only question I have northy is that I want a set of the bushes for wishbones, ARB, etc. as well. Can I get those through your good self at the same time, or do I order them direct from Powerflex but quoting WC for the discount?

I add myself to the list too. Am I gonna have to keep an eye on this thread or are we gonna receive a PM when the time comes to cough up the dough?
I am interested to know about the ARB bushes etc as stevie mentions, seen as im soon to do a wide track conversion.

where i have placed red lines...i recommend that you get lines of decent weld to aid strength.
I have seen numerous dog bones snap in half due to the brittle metal etc.
good bit of kit.

Thanks for the feedback guys....i hope i have it on my desk today !
The new kit has arrived - and will be sent out for testing by 2live...
As the pictures show - you will need to modify your existing dog bone.
Once i recieve feedback - revise any problems with powerflex and then i will be taking orders.

one question i have northy, is the yellow stuff that powerflex use any harder/softer than the purple stuff or is it the same stuff just a different colour
Yes Brun - the yellow is alot softer than the purple stuff.....I have a sample here of each

No problems jon....just make sure you do a before and after drive for me....
ok
ill collect mine from yours northy if it saves on any postage costs
no worries brun...will let you know when you can order once 2live has come back with feedback.
2live - i need to know the following please.
How Easy was it to remove the old bushes and fitting the new ones
Did it fit to the car ok ?
Any improvments / problems experianced on the test drive
Thanks buddy.
pending feedback, am in
First bit of feedback recieved from product tester....
The old orginal bushes will need pressing out to remove.
spoke to jon last night....the bushes will be fitted to the cars today.
i tried to do these at home....as a diy job should be able to be done.
unfortunately the old bushes will need to be pressed out, so not exactly a diy job.
will be taking the kids to school this mornin, then goin for a bit of a blast see how it is, then home to swap dogbones, thenout again.
should know a little mopre this pm.
but from what iv heard/seen on the 172 ones, they start ripping the box to bits, threading the box where the bolts hold the mount to the box, too stiff??
only 1 way to find out
btw ...i hope they willing to replace any damage incurred whilst testing ;)
the williams dogbones dont fit the same as the 172 ones as far as i know mate....as u know ours go to the subframe and to a bracket that goes to the gearbox......172 are direct to the gearbox ?
aye, but if they as stiff.theyl still cause damage to the casing. the engine will rock , the hardness of the mount will stop it, but the softness of the alloy casing wont, after a while the holes where the bracket goes will become elongated is my guess, which will then render the box useless, almost.
I dont think these are that hard mate tbh. If they were the purple version i could agreee. I think the material is quiet soft tbh.
Get it fitted mate !!!
yeah the yellow a lot softer than the purple. would be nice to know that any breakages due to fitting would be covered by powerflex's r&d fund tho ;)
i break enough gearboxes on me own, dont need anyone elses help ;) lol
yeah very good point 2live. hopefully these are good, and work well. defo want some anyway.
i want one but i still want a little give to it, the purple bushes they do IMO might be too stiff for an engine mount such as this
fitted today.
initial reactions....hardly any diff to oe, feels dare i say it.even softer tbh.
will give it a proper run later on as to how it feels.
softer than OE ?........you sure ?
mikeymikewakey
26-05-2007, 20:12
MY goodness...
so whats the order of stiffness with these powerflex bushes?
From soft to hard is it yellow - purple - black?
Mike
not sure what comes after purple....
Nice one Jon.
Like i said i think there is good improvment to be had over standard.....
well.gave it a good run over the weekend, feels pretty much exactly the same as a brand new oe one. which was fitted b4 this.
altho it has to be said, this is with the r19 box mount in place also, so movement was limited to start with.
definately not a do at home job tho, unless you happen to have a 20 ton press inyour workshop.
cost me a fiver to get the old bushes pressed out, the new uns dont need to be pressed in tho. the big one looked a little too wide in all honesty, maybe a couple mm could be trimmed from the inner bit of one of these, should have got pics while it was off the car.....only the bracket to hold the bush in place, which is ok, but maybe after some time getting abused, it could slip out of the dog bone ?? only time will tell really.
all good so far tho.
IMO they should need pressing in, otherwise in time they could just fall out
im going on holiday for a week so if these get made then i cant buy one until i get back
imo the test is not a valid one anyway as the r 19 box mount is being run! it needs testing as a std clio job. not with added extras!
can i order one of these?
can i order one of these??
i agree with Rich, the test isnt a good one, with the 19 box mount it isnt gonna move much anyway, didnt know jon had that fitted
mikeymikewakey

can i order one of these??
I believe its still in the testing phase at the moment mate.
Mike
i cant wait any longer, mines totally buggered now, ordering a normal one tomorrow
you can order one Brun. 2live has tested it and so far no problems have been found.
Thats good enough for me.
i didnt know they were available for order mate, ive ordered a new one from Renault now so its too late, may get one in future but im gonna fill the new one with sealant to firm it up
from this thread i thought it was still undergoing testing, nobody said they were ready, ive been waiting for weeks, checking this thread all the time
ca i have one lol! i have a spare dogbone waiting and currently working on the trackcar so would be ideal time!
2live has fitted it, and its done a fair few miles now.
Im sure that you can order now guys.
Ok.
Please add your name below and i will do the group buy.
