Had a bit of an accident, skidded off the road on some diesel and into a kurb doing about 20mph. Front near side wheel got forced into the bottom of the a-post, as the bottom arm took the brunt of the force. Thankfully a bolt snapped, which saved my subframe.

But I'm worrying about the offside, the photos below are all from the drivers side.

Is my shell badgered?

Thanks in advance!

no they crease like that some times when you fit a strut brace.

no they crease like that some times when you fit a strut brace.

And sometimes even when you don't! :)

As for the above I'd do as northy says and check teh a-pillar front strut area tbh. That's more likely to be affected I'd have thought. If so I suspect you'd need it checking out properly to make sure the whole front isn't on the piss.

lol you wont get that out lad...mine are worse than that...

you need a reskin or to fit something from the inside that pushes the roof up

It's just another reason for the sunroof to leak

As Northy said , make sure the strut is still ok where attached to the bulk head

creased roof lads.... have any of you noticed a difference in handling?

i had a similar accident in october and now have a crease, and since, ive replaced shafts, wishbones, struts, springs, hubs, wheels, tyres, arb bushes, track rod and ends... but for some reason, my cant doesnt like left hand corners

Handles like a dream going round right corners, but go left and the front right wheel seems to skid and understeer and sort of dive down. It's like the suspension is really soft on the right side compared to the left?

Ive checked the strut housing in the engine bay, and all looks well...

Sorry to hijack, but its so similar to mine!

Thanks,
James

my old valver had a creased roof, new one doesnt n seems to handle better, but that cud be coilies over std suspension n all!

in terms of total badgeration, wudt worry, mine was same as justins n car still passes mot etc, just investigate further to make sure its only the roof thats bent!

Cheers chaps.

Lol, Matt, wasn't around Storthes, so no worries there!

Haven't found any other damage to suspension/strut tops etc. Changing the other wishbone and hopefully get straight steering once it's tracked up.

Doesn't handle as well any more. :(

im glad someone brought this up. My current clio doesnt have any creases round the sunroof but i remember my 1993 RSi clio did symetrical crease's or more like dents either side of the sunroof and I always wondered while i owned that car that it had been in a smash previously or something but HPi came up clear. It handled like a dream too that thing! So does anyone actually know why this happens to some and not others? and why it happens at all for that matter?

im glad i have a williams 2, that looks a bit shocking tbh

It might be because of shell twist, and I know will sound ludicrous, but eventually stretches the roof , making it kink. Thats what i think anyway :?

the shock makes it way to the weakest point, which is inevitably the roof... the weight of the sunroof glass coupled with the thickness of the roof metal...not a good mix.. get a plate rivtted over it
