reduces emmisions somehow, the only real benefit from losing it is the weight

It's supposed to do something like this: Unburnt carbon deposits are trapped in their until the engine warms up, then when engine hot, they allowed to enter the air intake, and be burnt off. All to do with reducing carbon emissions basically.

You can remove it just fine (keep it though), and noting where the pipework goes to and from. Won't make any real difference other than reduced weight as mentioned above. You could however fit a catch tank to trap oil so it doesn't enter the air way, but that would add weight as most are made of metal :p

alloy catch tank has two benefits its lighter and it does not allow the fumes back into the engine.

No particular reason , Just while i was trying to drill out a wheel bolt that
had snapped in the hub i noticed the little fella ! And though what the
fooks that !

Thought it might work like an egr valve by putting gases back into the
engine and thought could there be a positive reason to remove it
