is there anything that can be done in an effort to try and stop this? apart from not raking through the gears! :P I mean like regular checks to ensure parts aren't coming loose, or anything like that?

Good lad done exactly what I did to all my old gearboxes. Can't do anything regarding checks to stop it, its the gear selector fork that snaps off and goes round the diff.

the gear selectors on these boxs are made of cheese and they break go in the oil sum ware and 1 day they will cum up and bite u! stupi crappy renault boxs. i killed 3 so far.
