as a few of you know im a 106 owner and dont have a clue about clio,s

anyways im really tempted to try a clio next, and was just wondering if i could fit a 182 engine/running gear/loom into a mk 1 clio shell

as there should be plenlty of low mileage engine about

I seen pics of a white Clio from Euro land somewhere with a 172 Lump in it.

Tbh save yourself the trouble and drop a Willy lump in it.

Or sell and get a 172/182

As above...too much hassle...just use a willy lump

You can get that sort of power out of a willy lump anyway fairly easily so I wouldn't bother with the hassle of a 172/182 lump tbh.

I'd give it a go just to be different, newer engine, stronger box and a 172/182 engine is basically a Williams engine with 260 duration cams anyway, so hardly any difference really. Willy engine is better when you start tuning them properly, but unless your going on ITB's etc then I dont think you will see that difference imo

the F4R use a 'all or nothing' type dephaser which iirc works from about 4000rpm only iirc, cant remember the degree's it changes

the K4Ms (1.6 16v) use the continuously varying type dephaser which works from 1500rpm to 4500rpm and from 0 to 45degree depending on conditions! (these are the ones which always fail! they rattle and groan on start up from cold when there knackered)
