Well check that there's enough oil in there for a start.

If the oil's never been changed then, yeah, change it.

My hunch is clutch.Usually difficult first and reverse are first signs of clutch pressure plate on the way out.

just had a new clutch fitted, why only when it is hot

sounds like either the clutch cable is routed wrongly or your missing the engine bay/bulkhead heatshield.

clutch drag as mentioned.

Always get the pedal and cable done when a new clutch is fitted.

Also new clutches are quite warped when not clamped so it will get better as its used if you do nothing.
