Picked up my new car today...

Pictures really dont do this car justice - the way the paint flips in the sunlight in awesome! Its just had a pretty much full respray and is the mintest car im ever likely to own.

Speed wise its a completely different league to the Hybrid, and the sound of the turbo spooling up and then the wastegate chatter is soo cool, i was grinning all of the 200mile drive home

Engine spec so far is fairly basic - HKS airfilter, sheepdog BOV, full stainless mongoose system from turbo back (2.5" pipe all the way ending in a 5" backbox - fooking loud!) Looking to fit coilovers and possibly a FMIC when funds allow...

Opinions?

love these cars, however, i hope its been well looked after or else you will be having a hefty repair bill for a gearbox and engine rebuild!

It's very orange  nearly bought one of these a few years ago....like the looks not keen on the decals though

Yeh its been looked after all right, the previous 2 owners treated it as if it were one of their children! The guy i got it off was pretty upset at having to sell it, i cant blame him really, its just so mint - still got the original nissan umbrella and emergency flare!

It drove the 200mile journey home without fault, oil temp/pressure and water temp were all fine, no fluid lost. Only bad side is the petrol consumption - i had to fill up twice!

More pics tommorrow when ive cleaned the engine bay and interior!

I dont normally like cars with decals either Martin, always take the piss and call them shopping lists, but i think these are gonna stay, theres nothing i wanna change with the styling..

For now plans are basic tidying ones - new rear no. plate, new wheelbolts and i want to respray the wheels to get a better finish on them..

Cleaned, waxed and glazed it today - will put up some pics in the pictures forum as soon as ive uploaded them..

To be honest, coil-overs will be the best money spent ont his car 8) Takes handling and confidence in the car so much further. Like you say the fmic next (expect MORE lag but so you WILL have to up the boost to compensate (unless you run anti-lag which is really quite expensive). The SR20 engines will easily take 350bhp without problems. You can pretty easily take it to 400/450bhp on stock internals but will really need to upgrade the clutch after 350, after that consider upgrading the pistons (wiseco are fairly cheap but have a good rep on nissans). The Gearbox I don't really know much about it's limit, so best talking to the owners club on that.

Take it easy for a few months before upping the boost, as they are really quick cars that can take you by suprise if your not careful. Oh and you will prob get about 18+ mpg if you floor it a little bit, but about 25+mpg if you take it easy (more on motorway cruise).

Good luck and have fun :)

Matthew

Sounds like you know your stuff mate - i know where i'll be coming with questions...

Its currently running standard boost (6psi i believe), and was rolling roaded at 236bhp, 16bhp over standard, not bad for only having an exhaust and airfilter

Im really considering one of these for my next car, there was a gorgeous one on autotrader the other month, white and going really cheap with some class mods and miles. Wish id had the money :(

Keep us plenty updated with it mate! :)

Beware of the low priced ones - bound to have been ragged to within an inch of their life. I paid top notch for this car, and its definately worth it - could've bought 2 pulsars for what i got this one for, but as with most things, you get what you pay for...

look at mine, payed £1200 and it blew up 30 miles form Bolton where i picked it up from, i knew it had a problem anyway so i wasnt too downhearted, got a new bottom end so im lookin forward to ragging a 300bhp car up pod lol
