Sweet..do you know where I can get some of those poly carb windows?

richy
13-05-2005, 19:56
mint!! :D

Mark_Ritchspeed
13-05-2005, 20:15
Do indeed. Airedale Race Components on 01423 360456 or e-mail stuart@airedalerace.freeserve.co.uk

I think they have whats called a bronze tint with front sliders. Perspex are cheaper than Polycarb ones, but the Polycarb are stronger and longer lasting so I went with them.

Cant remember exact prices though.

Keep on stripping Richy. Lots more to go. I couldnt believe the amount of extra cable that I removed from the loom, that did absolutely nothing.

so do you find it better than the OE box

Mark_Ritchspeed
14-05-2005, 19:26
Honestly dont know. Its never been on the rollers to find out, but I dont think it suffers massively with warm air intake. With 2 scoops feeding it and a raised rear edge on the bonnet, theres a constant supply of cool air.

Apart from that I love induction noise. :D

looking awsome mate, i want a ride in it, bet its rampant!

Do the strut braces and roll cage make it a lot stiffer Mark?

big hp
14-05-2005, 20:54
Can't wait to see this at FCS.

Mark_Ritchspeed
14-05-2005, 21:15
Roll-cage stiffens up shell massively, but to be honest the strut brace is probably not doing that much anymore. Apart from the fact its supporting the plumbed-in extinguisher hose and nozzle.

The strength pretty much comes from the 17 point cage, which is about the best off the shelf cage available for the mk1 Clio.

mark take it the windows dont move now?

Mark_Ritchspeed
17-05-2005, 22:40
The only movement in the windows is the sliding centre on the front windows. Just about enough to squeeze a big-mac through.

All the windows are screwed in with self tappers and there is no longer any of the window mechanisms in the front doors. In fact theres nothing inside the doors apart from the mechanism for the locks and catches.

Martin
17-05-2005, 22:44
How easy/hard is it to fit the windows then?

Mark_Ritchspeed
17-05-2005, 22:48
Its easy really. The windows are a pretty good fit, although I have yet to see perfectly sized perspex windows as nearly all are slightly too big by a few mm.

Its just you do have to drill some holes into the car for them to fit. Have a look at mine at FCS and you'll see its pretty easy.

Martin
17-05-2005, 23:00
They look very tidy on the pics can't see any holes/screw or owt...I'm very keen on these you got a rough idea on price?

Mark_Ritchspeed
17-05-2005, 23:08
To be honest, I cant really remember exactly what I paid , but I think it was around the £220-250 mark.

All perspex windows look neat from a distance. If you notice the rears have even been subjected to the zip-tie treatment, so I can still open them when its warm.

richy
18-05-2005, 19:05
nice one will have a better look at it at FCS , tbh i didnt think the frotns would go up n down lol but not to worry! :)
