Got the cams yesterday so will hopefully fit them this week at some point. Will be running them on standard timing for the minute, but will get the verniers in a month or two.
Unfortunately cant disclose price, but rest assured I got a good deal. But then we do deal with Ben fairly frequently in one way or another.
Cant wait to slap em' in and see how it goes. :D

you will be pleased to know that all and i mean all my mechanical parts are here for my 2 litre conversion!

2.0l megane bottom end
1.8 head.
ported and polished
fast road cams
new lifters
new oil seals
full gasket set.
new dizzy cap
new clutch
40k jc 5 gearbox
splitfire blue silicone leads
new water pump
new sensors
blue water piping set
decoked and refurbed inlet manifold (also port matched)
uprated clutch kit
decoked and de rusted exhaust manifold + respray.
rocker cover undergoing refurb.
subframe mounting kit, radiator mounts, exhaust gaskets, loctite, oil, oil filter...
cosmetic:
6 willy wheels all refurbed
engine spray (t b done - illuminous yellow)
work begins weekend....

Think it's gonna be a 172 wrecking crew in the N/w soon! :D
The Nana is back to it's best now after I re-set the ecu :D

dannyt was edgin past me on a little motorway blast the other week, he was on his own and i had the mrs in with me, but surely the extra weight cant account for it, i mean the mrs doesnt weigh much

Brun, it's prolly the fact your running 270's mate, too agressive imo, than and Danny's freak valver is a rapid one, it made 120AWT on the RE performance RR day.

Cams are soooo last year. :P
the cam spec seems to be this
Inlet duration - 264
Exhaust duration - 256
Inlet lift - 9.9mm or 0.39"
Exhaust lift - 9.2mm or 0.362"
Timing
22-62
58-18
it lists full lift @ 110degrees
lift @ TDC with clearance
Inlet - 1.27mm or 0.05"
Exhaust - 0.86mm or 0.034"
that all means nothing to me but it might mean something to you lot
how much does it cost to have cams timed ?....might get Andy@GDI or BenR to have a go at timing them for me, but ive spoke to u33db and he said they are timed as they should be to the spec sheet for the cams

Danny probably weighs the same as your missus...lol so there will be a fair difference in weight 2 up to 1up.....and his is a quick un' but yours should deffo be quicker with cams in!?
could be that the cams are too aggressive.but could also be poor mapping.etc etc etc etc lol
yeah get the timing checked out pal, it's prolly something simple...
hmmm yeah it COULD be something simple :shock: ...try re-setting the ecu lol worked for me!
well ive had the battery off tonight, and strangely it does seem quicker afterwards ??

I'm aiming for 14.0 or faster once timed and mapped :lol:
dunno mate, 14.5 is still VERY fast and I think that was with usual breather mods and stripped out with an R-Sport ECU... still more than a match for some of the lower powered Scoobs etc and on the road it would be faster. Yoz will correct me if i'm wrong i'm sure, although he still knows Williams are faster ;)

he's correct.
14.5 is a bit pants based on the amount of money youve spent on that car surely?
I only got 3 runs in 14.9, 14.7, 14.5.
Only "mods" to the engine are Rsport ECU, PiperCross Viper and Exhaust, so not a lot of money spent on it.
Standard iit ran 14.9 at Pod as its best time.

don't know mate, not been 1/4 miling since pod last May/June. In all honesty it is just too far to go anywhere for the day. York - 200 miles Pod - 120 miles.
Will get down to pod more than likely, but do want to come up to York one weekend soon.

but if ppl want a car that works after its been modded....they are always welcome to pay me to do the mods mate...if they choose not to its their choice lol

i've always said RR figures are bollox too pal, never trusted any of them for an accurate reading, BUT, they do give you an idea and that's what it's all about end of the day surely?
on the road is where you notice it and down the strip comparing against similar cars. dont be too dismissive of their work tho Rob, even you'd be surprised at the stuff they do.

But if the majority of customers are happy then what's wrong? There's plenty of tuning/RR/etc companies that have shocking reuptations but stay afloat.
I'd rather go somewhere purely by word of mouth myself, whether it's a company or an individual. If I decide to go the 2L route next year I'll prolly ask 2Live to lend a hand with most of it but that's because I've met the lad, trust him, and have seen the fruits of his own labour. Doesn't mean I wouldn't consider others though on the same basis.
If it went tits up it's a risk I'm willing to take TBH.
as Mike says, it's all a risk and most of us have engines with well over 50k on them, so their not as strong as they once were... although some will be stronger... which cant really be explained, but hey, it happens and things can and do go wrong. you pay your money and take your chances.

Exactly. And you really don't know how cars of this age have been run in etc, which could explain a lot about why some people's cars rarely give people any bother yet others (Jesus) seem to stumble from one problem to the next.
exactly pal, hopefully this new engine will give me less problems now and be ever quicker than the last one.

Yes mate those are the ones, I rang them up Monday and spoke to Dave who I think owns RSM, they arrived today I went for the Kent RN 2002 kit, but since buying them I also need, according to my reliable sources
* Cam Seals
* Cam belt kit (Not cheap £90ish)
* Rocker cover gasket
* Oil and Filter

Oh and by the way the car is booked for cam fitting on Friday, so no doubt will be on here Saturday chasing up a megane block or similar...lol
well ive had a look at the cam specs for these RN2002 that you Willy boys are going for, and my cam is actually milder than that, so maybe mine isnt much of a step up from standard
for some reason though, last day or so its felt a lot faster
