which is quicker in standard trim from a standstill to !!!mph. had a bit of do with a rallye once wen my willy was standard, through 2nd and a bit into 3rd was quite even from wat i remember. opinion??

Think this was done not long ago mate.

Think the outcome was, the Willy upto 80mph? Then the Rallye/GTI would pull it back towards top end.

But tbh, i totally pissed all over a GTI-6 in my old Hybrid.

Yeah mate.

Standard engine, just had supersprint manifold, hillpower chip, decat and ITG filter.

So nothing too special...

Gti-6 has an extra gear its not fair :? willy would smoke it to end of 3rd and into 4th but i agree top end would be the gti's.
i would find some twisties very quick if i had 1 sat on my bumper thinking he was coming past.

"Smoke it" is a bit strong. Takes considerable difference to "smoke" something.

Once the 306 hits 3rd it will probably have the advantage.

yeh maybe a bit ott  but lets see if it could stick it in the corners although i do believe they can handle quite well but not well enough 8)

They handle, very, very well. Require bigger balls to drive fast imo

Like everyone else, I'd say they'd be about equal until just over 100 and then the 6 would pull away slowly. I've had a completely standard one of each :)

weird, I could pull pretty easily from my mates Rallye in absolutely every gear to the limiter in 5th... by which time I'd be a fair ways ahead... not miles like, but a good distance and that was with just a backbox... :?

My mate has a gti-6, had a couple of plays against it and was still crawling away at 100, although his isnt the best example.

To be fair jon your williams had cams and was very very quick, and your a better driver than bod too.

This was when he just had a back-box on his Williams, according to his post. Everyone will have different experiences, which I guess this proves :)

Good point. My 106 GTI used to beat it.

this was with just a backbox though and valver geabox

... and yeah Bod aint the best, knows how to rag it in a straight line but **** me, wouldn't like to be in the passenger seat going down some country lanes! lol

Actually he might be right there thinking on (just backbox)

I apologise for my mis-information the cams came quite late on in jons williams' ownership.

He is a better driver than bod though, that much is certain.

yeah backbox and diesel box it came with, box died almost immediately so it got a nice low mile valver one from 2 live... thankfully unused by him!

Cams came about a year and a half later or there abouts. Against Bod it's only had backbox and K&N open IK (not good!), plus the valver box. I was lucky in a way with the Willy as the original engine was fast as **** considering it was stock, the Megane BE was a belter too, but it was only 22k or 24k when I got it lol

181 bhp at the fly, stripped out but still prob 1050kg.

Theres a lot of gti6/rallye drivers out there who really dont know how to drive their car properly, but from what Ive seen, standard v standard, I think the williams will just have it on the quarter, if it was a 40-140 sprint, would be the other way round I think, plus gti6's are slow lol!

The 6 gearbox has pretty long gears in 1st and 2nd but short gears after that which results in a more drivable car as most b road thrashing is in the 50-100mph range.

Although managed to get mine down to low 6 second 0-60

need to check that lump out to see what cams are in it, as Wayne is ready no whenever you are, he has a G saved to spend on the conversion, which I think should easily cover what he needs?

Cams need properly timing up though and then a visit to Wayne @ Chip Wizards. I'll speak to Andy GDI about timing them up more agressively, or just tell Wayne to get some cat ones in there like I had in mine.

Ben, seen pics of yours, looks stunning mate, we'll have to get together me you, 9 lives etc and go for a blast. You based near Tod then?

Ive never had any trouble with gti-6's even had a tussle with one at 100 all the way to 130 and he was just getting smaller and smaller in the mirror, yeh i was in my red 1800 freaky quick valver but his was chipped, decatted etc, stood no chance
