Went to donny today for a trackzone track day. Manage only one session on full slicks before it pissed down all day. Lots of cars spinning off and heading off towards the tyre walls. A SEAT BTCC car went off onto the grass, through the gravel and into the wall and a sax max race car rolled about 3 times (i think) just at the end of the day.

There were 2 brand new clio cup cars there testing, one still had the renault barcode stickers on it from when it left the factory!! Amazed how quiet they are when on track.

Spoke to lots of people who popped into my pit garage asking about the cup car, one guy seemed to be impressed he wants to buy one so naturally gave him the sales pitch towards SCOTT cups car. He was amazed how well it went for a std 1.8 16v!!!

Used the toyos rest of the day and held up ok but had a few scary moments when forced to go off line by idiots in porkas!!!

Heres some pics so far, full action shots to follow soon

northy

what did you think to yours on wets ???

evouk
05-03-2007, 09:18
well the wets i have have some cuts on the sidewall so didnt use them as i dont think there safe, shame as there like new.

Had to use brand new toyos.

wish i did have the wets sorted as a lot of race cars there on the day were using michelin slicks and seemed to get loads more grip.

May well look into getting some part worn ones,.

i hope theyre as fun as the mk2 cup car to drive.

Apparently not - less mobile rear-end. And as Ben says, not as quick so far.

Hi Evouk and Every Body..That was me in the Little Blue valver, not done much to her yet but I dont think I could have found a better car than a MK1 to start with. Only 3 of us went on that sunday but there are 6 of us that have got Clio 16v track cars now although 1 is a cup car and tricked up as hell. The Red one only managed 7 laps and his oil pump went follow by a big BANG...gutted for him. Let us know next time you go so we can have a chat.

All the best

Nick

The Red one is still a 1.8 but its cambed up with a group n chip in it and goes like stink (or Did), it's our mission to try and beat the cup in a 1.8 road goer but they are so fast and so sorted. Our cup car its yellow and blue and we are hoping to roll her our at Donny in about 3 weeks.

The red ones an x cup car then? Anything added to the suspension or still running it as renault made it.

Seems strange it has the aerial on the roof still and a fog light!!!

evouk

or have i just seen two red clios that look similar.....

the one on track is defo a x racer but the one above is a road car?

Does that make sense....

Hi all,
The pictures of my yellow and blue Cup car above are a bit out of date now. I've attached a recent picture - and yes I know the phase 2 bits make it non original but I just prefer the look. :D (I've kept all the original parts should I change my mind)

By the way is anyone considering coming on Friday the 6th of April (weather permitting) to Donington Park for a day out with the 4 (Blindstuntman being one) of us?

Jube

I've not got any recent shots of the interior but I'll take some when I'm relocating my battery to the rear of the car next week.

I'll also get some pictures of my friend's red 16v track car and post them all together.

Croft sounds like it could be a laugh. None of us have ever been to the circuit so we'll have to try and find a Sony PS2 game with the track on to practice the lines! :D

What's Croft like as a circuit and when in May did you have in mind for your visit?

I've not driven it, but I've been passengered around it a few times and it seems a decent little circuit. Quite tight with some challenging corners to catch you out... or have fun with

Hi Guys,

Just in case any of you fancy joining us?

We will have 4 of our Clios attending this Friday's Trakzone Day at Donington Park.

Jube
05-05-2007, 12:37
Well the trackday started well!!!

After just setting my best personal lap time (the only positive of the day) my engine decided to give up the ghost big time on the start finish straight!

Best guess so far is a valve problem - i'll hopefully find out exactly what caused the fault when I remove the head next week.

I guess that's the nature of the sport but I'm not looking forward to finding out what and how much needs fixing!

The other three Clios all had problems at one time or another but two of them managed to get out for most of the day's sessions.

Hi Summeh,
We go once a month so the next will be roughly 4-5 weeks from now.......although I don't think mine (Yellow Cup Car) will be ready by then.

We'll post a date as soon as we've got one and we'll hopefully see you, Northy and any other members there this time?

Just let me know when... I will be ready to rock (not role hopefully ;) ) in the cup beginning June.

So let me know when!

Will be my first outting in it! 8)

Great, as soon as we've chosen a day i'll PM you - the more the merrier.

I'm still trying my best to get mine there too - I may have to fit a Standard 1.8 engine in though for now, just so I can attend while I get my 2.0 fixed.

The guys are all potentially looking forward to me being in a Standard engined car!
