Only a handful of things, but there is a small saving over what are already very competitive prices and you can save on p+p :

Wilwood 4 pot brake kits : £340 (With Poly E pads, Poly A + £10)

Competition Engine Oils:
Millers CSS 10w/40 Semi-synth £16 per 5 litres
Millers CFS 10w/40 Fully-synth £25 per 5 litres

Thats it for now . :D

You still on for the bodyshop 2moro mate?

J o n
13-05-2005, 15:16
bedding them in wont be a problem mate, destroying the pad might be though after seeing your idea of 'warming the breaks up'... didn't know the disk and caliper were supposed to go COMPLETELY RED and SIZZLE!!! pmsl

yeah, still up for it mate :D

... phone me to make sure i'm awake tho... lol

13-05-2005, 15:29
yup, safe fella.

The Wilwood pads bed in very quickly. 2-3 big stops and then drive a couple of mile to cool them down and job done.

I have still yet to overheat the Wilwood pads, although I dare say for continued track abuse the Poly E's may fade, but the Poly A's never will. No matter what you do with them.

Would you be able to supply the discs with the kit too?

Mat.

Mark_Ritchspeed
13-05-2005, 18:27
Yep discs would be £40 on top. These are group "n" plain vented discs as we dont recommend either drilled or grooved.

Identical to the ones on my car.

richy
13-05-2005, 20:41

I was just about to write you an email about these.

I'll have a set of of 4 pots of you at fcs along with new disks please.

clean16v
14-05-2005, 02:26
Just to confirm, £380, bracket, calipers, mounting brackets and pads? If so i will have a set please!

Mark_Ritchspeed
14-05-2005, 09:14
£380 will be for discs as well. £340 is for everything apart from discs, although if you want the full Poly A race pad it is £10 extra over the standard price.

Even though I use the Poly A pad for road use as well, I dont recommend it as it is very, very sharp when cold .

clean16v
14-05-2005, 10:30
and they fit under standard wheels? Sorry if i've missed the thread explaining all this!
I'll have a set please mate, but im on holiday from tonight to the day of FCS, can i secure this price though?

KingStromba
14-05-2005, 10:31
Thats a mint price

richy
14-05-2005, 11:21
had a look and i will have a set of discs too mark, with the poly E pads(road and track?) full kit at £380 :D

summeh
14-05-2005, 15:09
is this just for the front wheels?

Mark_Ritchspeed
14-05-2005, 18:34
Yep, just front wheels. If you want to upgrade the rears I would recommend something like Mintex M1144's.

summeh
15-05-2005, 00:23
aye i have heard good things about those mintex pads.

I so needed these brakes today brake fads just stupid.

Does that price include new fluid as well?

Do you use those engine oils in the car if so what sort of temsp and pressures do you get?

Mark_Ritchspeed
15-05-2005, 11:11
We do sell Millers competition brake fluid and we normally sell it for £18 per litre. Its not cheap , but is still competitive when compared to other high-temp fluids. I think the very cheapest I could do it for is about £17 anyway. Using a high-temp fluid is not critical with this braking set-up as very little heat gets back into the system to boil the fluid. I use it, but as long as you use a good quality Dot 4 fluid that should be enough. To be honest I am not sure what price a decent standard fluid goes for these days.

I actually use the 10w/60 CFS oil in mine as it tends to spend a lot of time at high rpm with the car doing slower speeds. It may be slight overkill, but its the only oil we use in high power turbo cars especially Imprezas. I have seen oil temps as high as 150 degrees (according to the dials) regularly, so mine is a hot running engine and also doesnt have an oil-cooler. At the end of the day, regardless of what oil manufacturers tell you, the majority of failures and heavy wear on a competition car takes place at high engine temps, not at cold start-up where I dont mind listening to the tappets ticking for a few minutes.

The engine pressure on mine sits at 0 when its hot and idling, but rises to around 3-4 bar IIRC when booting it. But, bear in mind I dont have the history for my engine, although I was told it had done only 60k miles and had been well looked after, for all I know it could have been around the clock with its previous owner. I doubt it, but you never know, with a 2nd hand engine.

Why did reno only put oil coolers on some cars? How can you tell if you have an oil cooler?

Mark_Ritchspeed
15-05-2005, 11:18
I'm not sure. The oil cooler fits in between the block and oil filter on these cars. I really should have fitted one when it was out of the car, but I just never got around to it. The Renault one is a watercooled version, but I prefer the air-cooled versions especially for track use, its just there isnt a shitload of room in the front of these cars.

Hi mate,

Is this all the stuff in the £340 kit?

Wilwood 4 pot Forged Dynalite calipers (Pair)
High Strength Aluminium brackets (Pair)
Wilwood Poly E Brake Pads
Braided Hoses (Pair)
All necessary fixings (High tensile bolts, lock-nuts etc)

Then £40 for the discs.

So i will just need to get some fluid?

If so mate, i will take a set off you at the show.

Mat.

Mark_Ritchspeed
18-05-2005, 08:53
Yep , thats right. If anyone wants Poly A's there £10 extra.

Hey Mark, I'm interested in this kit what price would you be doing it for in say a month or 2's time?

Mark_Ritchspeed
18-05-2005, 12:17
Normal price after the show, which is £350 + £10 pp. So, not a huge saving by getting the kit at the show but we normally dont do discounts on things as the prices are very good to start with.

MatBrown
18-05-2005, 12:54
Just to confirm i will be bringing £380 for the kit with Poly E pads and Grp N discs.
