Hey, took it down for it's mot today and it failed on a few things, like some bearings and incorrect headlight adjustment etc..

Anywho, it failed on it's horn (only has 1, and it sounds poo) because it didn't work!

It's always worked and today for some reason it doesn't what should I be checking? Fuse in the engine bay is fine too!

Just check and clean up the connections.

heres my fail list, ha ha.

Right, what size bearing is a 91 valver likely to have on the front or does it need to be measured... what happens if you get the wrong type as surely the spline size is the same or was the hub slightly bigger?

If the rear stub axle has some rush on, is it ok to wire brush it, or wirewool as I had major problems getting my rear discs on last time.

for fault 1, i hadn't tightened the pipe up right but I got some new ones made today anyway, only £5 as the nut looked crap.

fault 2, got some laguna hoses as they are longer due to my bigger brakes they were stretching (only the slightest bit)

Fault 3, hadn't tightened the shock bolt up sufficiently.

If I supply the bearing and the hub how much should I be looking at for it to be pressed?

Horn, where does it earth, as mine only has 1 wire coming to it which I assume is a live?

It earths through the bolt to the chassis.

cool cheers.

Also what are the rear bearings like?

I got this bearing today from a factors but the one in this disc at the moment seems to be a 2 piece one?

I had a similar problem, after a good clean (sanding down connections / WD40 Clean) seems to have sorted it out.

Try and make sure the Horn is positioned/facing a direction where it is less likely to get water going into it.

Also, might be an idea to only replace with one Horn (rather than the two that are normally on there) - all in the name of weight reduction!

outer is one piece. inner is usually two.

OK bearings hmm easy job to do and depending on how much money you have to spend, can get a press on ebay for about 80 quid ;)

i would say, how good a condition are the rear discs?

if they are in need of replacement just get new ones with the bearings already pressed in if not then its easy to do if you have a press or a jack ?

you can use a car jack and socket ! (not ideal) just need somthing solid to jack on and a socket about the same size as the bearing then and either somthing very heavy or solid to push against, then just take out the circlip and jack the bearing out using the socket to push it.

well havn't got a clue about the horn! Bought a new one and it still won't work. There are 2 contacts, tried it with just the single wire as before and with an earth and it won't work!

What can I be looking at? The fuse in the Aux Box is ok too.

That Jack idea to press the bearin sounds interesting but think I'll go the proper route lol

have you checked for live when the horn is pressed
