Lads and Ladies,

Looking at changing the hybrid to a more sensible, comfortable, well built beast, however not too expensive and still fun when I want it to be!

So basically looking at getting a BMW 328i sport, 1996 onwards, fancy some rear wheel drive fun for a while!

Any thoughts, or is there anything else people recommend?

Thanks for your thoughts

Danny

Drinks a bit more. Bigger tyres would cost more, Straight 6's acceleration a little bland compared to a punchy 4-cyl block. But if it's a sensible, speedy transport you want; imo, the 328 is should be a good choice.

Only thing I've heard from other E36 owners is they're a bit sterile. Good at what they do but lacking some zest.

I can concur with that after driving one....might be better to save your pennys for 6 months and go for an m3 danny...

Thanks for that lads,

your right about the BM though, more sensible, could do with driving one really though....martin, get your dads round!!! Do you think 200bhp will be enough of a step up from the little clio or would you say wait until maybe I can afford something with a little more power?

I think i'll test drive a few and see how things go! Might regret it though Andy but i think it might be time to move on!

Jon-bikes not fast enough mate-lol!

Martin you might be right mate, but it will have nothing to do with saving, 'm no good at that!

my mate bought a 328 on an m plate, wish he got a cheap m3 now as there more potential there but you can still be sensible in it.

328i is a good choice, get yourself some US spec M3 cams (from the US 3.0), get yourself the M50 manifold conversion and big bore throttle body and you are pushing an ultra reliable 250bhp, more if you look at viscous fan delete, underdrive pullys, lose air con etc...

Had many a BMW, do some research on www.e36coupe.com lots of info and guides there. Just makesure it doesnt have a nikisill block as it could come back to haunt you! dont be put off by mileage, a good serviced engine is reliable for over 250k miles+
