Hi guys,

Was briefly working on car tonight (gets dark too quick :( ) and noticed this plug on the engine, with seemingly no cables going to it (I assume broken or snipped deliberately).

Can you tell me what it is please?

Thankyou
Matthew

Yeah, one of the coolant temp sensors in the stat housing, can't quite see which one it is.

Actually scrap that... I have just managed to quickly find these items. (yes I am ashamed I should have looked in Haynes book of lies first)

The TOP one is actually the Temperature Gauge Sensor and the BOTTOM is the FUEL INJECTION TEMPERATURE SENSOR !!!!! [according to haynes manual for F7P engine]

so apparently my fuel injectors don't currently have a temp reading on the fuel, that's great *sarcasm*.

What page is that from?

It is section 3:6 (number 8 and figure 8.1) Cooling, Heating and Air Conditioning Systems.

Bear in mind you may have a older or revised edition to me of the haynes manual.

No problem :)

Just popping outside with a torch to see if I can find the wires to it and think about hooking it up! lol

Ok, took another good look this time, and straight away noticed the wires were attached, just at a very odd angle after the rubber had all split lol. Oh the fun of the dark and small torch light hehe.

Will have to investigate further why my temp gauge doesn't work, as that can mean the difference between a head gasket change, or head gasket skim

short the temp sender plug to the head, 1 pin will make the light cvome on, the other will make the needle read full. If it doesn't you have a wiring issue, if it does then a new sender is needed.

Normally the senders usually work ok on the gauge side but the light comes on constantly.

Useful tip that :) Thanks Chris. I don't seem to have a light coming on issue, just a "not moving" issue lol

Its the coolant temp sensor for injection system, brown plugged one is the coolant sender for the temp gauge.

When that sensor was unplugged on my clio it refused to idle at all when cold! Hows yours running

Mine seems to idle fine since I played about with the TPS :D
