Cleaning airfilter?

Apart from a kit, is there another way of doing this? Feel like sorting a few probs on the car out today and this is one of them, alternatively can you buy the kits separately?

you can but by the time its washed and dried for the extra money i'd just buy a new filter pal.

not really as the kit contains the correct oil for the filter once,s it been washed.
