Okay mines never works, always been wired up to a switch on the dash so i can turn the fan on and off at leisure. Not been an issue ever and tbh am happy with it as is. however as am looking to sell the car in the none to distant future, i want to fix any 'problems' in the eyes of a potential buyer.

So today i reconnected the wiring and put the battery back in to check the relays. basically i attached the battery and shorted the 2 wires that i figured were for the fan switch. nothing, no clicks from the relays.

several questions, what colour are the 2 wires to the fan and to the fan switch and which relay do they relate to in the relay box?

cud someone post a detailed pic of thier relays and loom inside the relay box in a manner that i can understand which wire goes where as to me it looks like there have been a few bodges in mine at some point

cheers

Ben

Trust me, this really is a minefield.

I have just fixed two cars and the problems are normally corroded or burnt out wires, luckily i have enough spares to sort them out.

I can give you a little run down.

1st thing to check is the fan is actually working, presume this is the case as you have been using the maunal switch.
The wires leading to the fan switch (red/yellow) are very prone to corroding and breaking esp at the very end where they join the plug, not sure where your manual switch was wired in?
There is a diode in the relay box which tends to overheat and melt taking any number of wires along with it.
The relay is normally the top one in the middle of the three in the cover of the relay box, could be changed if it has been messed with before, rarely is the relay actually at fault.
The big brown plug in the relay box where the looms join is also prone to having wires corrode and snap off, normally the big thick red ones on the car loom side.

mmm interesting, doesnt it rely on ur existing wiring working or is it wired up to the fan completely independantly?
