Hey, i'm getting my car ready for it's MOT and noticed one of my hoses has a slght crack in the rubber.

So I tried to change this with a brake pipe spanner and it rounded, same story after I used the blowtorch too.

So I'm thinking of taking it to a garage, but what are they likely to do? Will they put a new pipe in from the master or chop the broken bit off and use an interconnect? I never really trust these people :?

specifically ask them to do it form the master mate and thats what they'll do

ok cheers mate, still don't trust these muppets as it looks quite hard to get to the master in the 16v bay!

Just use a pair of mole grips? Had to do that on both sides on my valver and replace the pipe on the drivers side because the union was seized on the pipe.

I would do it my self but don't have to flaring kit etc.

A garage just tried to charge me £60, cheeky buggers!

Anyone fancy it for some beer money :D

I know Rich, couldn't believe that, he knew that I knew he was ripping me off, so just went.

Maxiboy, do Halfords or anyone do them? I need one asap because the MOT is due soon. What else do I need? The piping and the unions? 11mm(?) I'd still prefer someone else to do it ha ha.

Get a flaring kit from machinemart and some copper pipe which is pretty cheap if you need it, and the unions etc are like 40p or something daft from a motor factor.

How hard is it the pipe to undo from the master cylinder, as it looks like a squeeze! Also how do I get the pipe off as it's siezed on to the rubber hose and it's on that bracket, so I simply can't just pull it off!

which side is it? Have you tried using 2 pair of mole grips on it yet? I had to brake that little metal spring/bracket (not the 1 connected to the car but the metal clip the hose goes through) got a new one from renault wasn't expensive. I had to change the pipe on the drivers side which wasn't that difficult really, bought a length of copper pipe, bit of a pain bending it but not rocket science!

it's the drivers side, ahh right that metal bracket thing, if you break that does the pipe and nut fit through the hole then?

Tried mole grips but mine suck so didn't work!
