This has probably been asked 10 times before but i have searched and cant find anything.

BBtuning do this:

A timing sensor with advanced ignition. Is this a totally pointless mod that will end up causing problems in other areas of the car? Also is this really in essence what one of the things a "Chip" does anyway?

6 degrees seems a heck of a lot of advance to me. (coming from other engines I have experienced anyway).

It doesnt work.

That's a sweeping statement

1) The product doesn't advance at all (Then trading standards need to be involved)
2) Product does advance ignition but has no noticeable effect.

Which of the above?

Advancing the ignition on any previous engine I have used definately increases the response when you use the dizzy, but this I don't currently know how it works with the F7P/R's.

The ECU controls the ignition advance on the F7P / F7R

The theory is your shifting the refernce point in relation to the pattern on the fly...so u can swing the timing. However, the large radius of the fly means that it would take a large ammount of movement to give a small angular increase/decrease.

Yeah I thought it would be a waste of money, but I came across it on their site as thought I would ask :)

So basically its lying to the ECU about the position of the crank?

Ive got one on mine and seemed to make a lot of difference .. saying that though my old one might of been fooked ! also run 99 ron and a mapped chip if that makes any difference

What bhp you running? 1/4 mile etc??

Well my setup is very basic compared to others ..

Viper Induction Kit
Full Magnex System with Decat
Mapped Chip to Match

car also tuned etc on rolling road to make sure it was running right..

Running 145 bhp at fly

Then Bought Advance Timing Ignition Sensor .. It made a big difference
to the throttle response and made the car feel more alive ..

But since putting it in ive been using 99 Ron fuel which is quite cheap
around here @ 88p per litre , and its been running great..

But i definately felt the difference with it on .. it makes me laugh when
people say it wont work when they have never even tryed it ..

But all i can say it made a difference in my car

Sorry 143 bhp not 145

I was going by what ive heard from others experiences.

If it works, fair play!

aye, but you fitted the chip the same time as ign sensor?

To be honest when i first seen it i thought "yes another con" . Even with
the + 6 degrees advance advertised i wasnt convinced . But my couriosity
got the better of me and at £29 or what ever it was i thought sod it and
gave it ago .

As i say in the post above i felt the difference straight away and the car
felt more responsive ..

Maybe my original sensor at 13 yrs old was tired but i dont know..

I mean im the first to slag a product that doesnt work

But the advert says you will gain power and i felt a difference straight
after installing it using 99 RON fuel so make your own minds up ...

I fitted the Sensor about 4 months after the chip was fitted

The question should be, is it any worse than the standard item? If not, then for the price it must be worth it, even if there is little to no increase???

Ive got a similiar thing for my lil 125cc 4 stroke pitbike lol

as for crank sensor, you could just slot the mounting holes to allow adjustment...save £20odd like

The thing i found strange though stan is that is looks identical to the
original as in the position of the sensor etc.. :?

You will more than likely find the differance is the white and red wires have been swapped around in the connector. Old trick that from the days of the Gtt.
