Right,

Renault have told me that this cable IS the correct one for my 95N plate 16v.

However I have told them repeatedly it's the wrong one. It's is visably different to the ones of old I have had from them.

I have had a go at fitting this, but it simply won't engage in to gear when the clutch is dipped.

When I had a new clutch fitted a month ago the technician also said it's definately the wrong one.

The numbers printed on the casing are as follows, which I presume is the model/part number;

7700829067 C60195

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHY IT WON'T WORK!

But surely even routing it incorrectly, which is almost impossible to do, it would still operate in some way?

I have routed it exactly the same way as the copy one Im running (which by the way, im waiting any day for it to go snap!), and it just won't go into gear.....

routing does affect it, i was confused n all but now its routed right its fine

make sure where it come out of bulkhead into engine bay it goes straight down then loops under the steering column and across back of subframe, if it doesnt go striaght down i found it gets stuck and affects how it works!

This is the cable i have been given as a replacement for the 60* cable i was originally given. Strange that the 60* cable is similar but has some slightly different components especially in the bulkhead grommit.

Fitting it tomorrow so i'll let you know how i get on.

Mine works. Bit troublesome at first but it's fine now. I routed mine straight down and there's a clip for it on teh back of the subframe before it comes up the by the n/s inner wing.

Right,

Replaced my new cable this morning.

I routed it slightly different to the way I had done orginally, and although originally I said it wouldn't engage into gear it now seems to be ok, without being spot on.

As soon as It comes out of the bulkhead I have routed along the back of the bulk head with the brake lines and it seems to be ok, without fiddling around with it.

Does this seem like an ok way to route?????

I have also posted this, Ive no idea where it goes, the guy at renault didnt neither;

replied to the funny bit, no idea what it is! :?

u made sure it came straight down from bulk head then round under steering column? before going along back of subframe, there shud be cuple of clips to clip it to in middle of subframe n all but they tend to be kippered
