Right I fitted the 16v rear beam in place of my 1.4 drums yesterday, all is fine apart from this constant rattle while moving. I've tied all the handbrake cables up, checked things are tight etc but it still remains.

It goes when I brake and if I pull the handbrake up while moving. My handbrake is pretty slack, could this be the cause? There is a sound clip below.

could be the anti rattle clips if they are missing, just make sure your pads are secure as you dont want them to fall out. tighten the handbrake up too mate, see if it goes away

*looks down pants* yes I have some of those, ha ha.

Ahh I know what ya mean, is there 1 on each pad or just 1 on 1 pair of pads? Can you put them on while the pads are still in the caliper?

Justin..

Renault wanted £20, they got told where to shove it and went to Halfords and got kit HFK803, very slight difference but i think they will be fine.

Also check the bolts are VERY tight on the back of the caliper, when i had my rear discs changed, the bolts weren't fully tightened up, and this made a rattling noise as i was driving around.

Very annoying!

well it's still doing it, put all 4 anti rattle thingies on, tightened everything up and it's still there. It's so damn annoying, especially on bumpy roads, I don't have a clue why it's happening!

caliper bolts, rear beam bolts? basically check everything you've touched is tight.

yup sure enough it was one of the bolts, as Coops found out ha ha. Peace at last
