Well since my PAS rack was leaking and I have a 'new' one on the way I figured I'd find out how it all worked, cue much swearing etc as I dismantled the rack!

First job was to find a novel way of shifting a track rod end out, bare in mind I only fitted it new few weeks ago, but I used heat to remove the old one and am guessin the track rod was still hot when I fitted the new one. Distinct lack of blow torch now tho so had to use my inginuity!

After that I set about dismantling the rest of the rack, I might rebfurb it and rebuild this rack up again as a spare if I decide, but for now its in bits, so cue nice exploded series of pics for a 'technical' look! :P

we have a tool at work which slides over the tie arm and u then twist it anti-clock wise for it to grip the actual fitting, then turn it hard using a 30mm socket/ratchet, it then just unwinds, you get new locking plates with new kits(euro car parts £60odd for full sets LH and RH) as they nearly always break!

the other thing ppl have done is use a pair of mole grips on the main fitting and twist anti-clock wise!
