Guys, I need some small things done for my Valver to Pass it's MOT, one of which is a waterpump change...

Anyone done one? Is it easy, I've worked on cars before, but more the electrics and bodywork, so quite inexperienced on Mechanical things... Anyone any ideas?

Yeah it's not easy. I got the parts from BBPerformance Tuning, came to around £40 -£50. However, I had to take it to a garage for fitment. Book time is around 7 hours and it cost me £220. There's just so little space, most stuff has to come out.

The bloke said it was a pig of a job to do. lol.

Good excuse to do the cambelt :)

Water pumps are a pain ass ..... you have to remove the Power steering bracket to get to the top water pump bolts

yeah it does run off aux belt (i changed one sunday as a matter of fact lol) but while its in bits like that you may as well do the cambelt at the same time.

not a nice job, be prepared to take lots of bits off!! lol iirc you have to take cambelt cover off do do it so may as well change that belt too, and it's driven off the aux belt, memo to peeps dont think u can drive home with a broke aux belt!!!

The drive belt diagram was from memory so don't go mad if its not quite right  Hope you like my arrows!

Thanks for the tips guys... Unfortunatly all the belts were done 5k ago, just this little problem with the water pump (Leaks a bit) Looks like I'll be sucking up the £2-300 coz I haven't the time atm to get that all done...

wonder if its common? my aux belt had never been changed - mine was done 4k ago and pretty much the same time it started losing water...

its like at work - a server is switched on non stop for 5-6 years, the second you switch it off thats it dead - 100% working to totally dead.
