Just bought a brand spanking heat shield as mine is bollocksed as most are! had a quick check under the bonnet and i was under the impression it was 3 bolts or screws. Im not sure if mine is standard but it only has the screw tips coming through with 'star washers' around them. is that normal? if so how do they come off and do i have to buy new ones when refitting? any ideas?

Also, how easy is it to fit an accellorator cable too? may as well do that at the same time!

They're comedy self threading nuts that hold em on, usually somewhere between 10mm and 11mm head so you'll need a 11mm spanner to take em off.

No should be on the front of the heatshield. If theres only star washers there then the nuts are missing.

some are just fitted with star washers. they are three. two towards the top and one right at the bottom. pry them off with a screw driver normally. renault sell little fake 10mm cheap nuts to put them back on. if your stuck i might have some and will look if you like.

Theres one at the top in the middle and two at the bottom near the brake hoses.

The renault nuts are the one im on about. They're 10mm but when you put em on the stretch and you need a 11mm spanner to turn em.
