Yer but i hate ringing people :D the only bit i can't get my head round is the steering rack ond colum. there on the front on them and most 4x4 cars

Also IF i built one i would like to keep it under the std arches as i hate the dimmer.

Steering rack and colum is easy enough to sort, just make sure you use no mor than 2 uj's and it'll be fine

Its not really a one off loads of people have done it to various cars, its the same running as I used to build my hot rod but I built a spaceframe to fit it all.

Rear chassis section

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i158/clowo16v/June040004.jpg

Front chassis section (with V6, not sure what engine will be at end got a twin turbo 450bhp 4 litre sohc V6 but may fit a v8)

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i158/clowo16v/RackMedium0001.jpg

How I mounted the steering rack just for Flan, will get pics of where I ran the column basically I got it over the diff and under the engine mount with about 1/2" to spare.

A better method for handling would be to separate the front diff from the sump. To do this you need to fit a standard 2wd cossie sump. You then need to modify the standard 4x4 sump by chopping most of it off then boxing it in with ally plate, then run a filtered oil line and return from the standard sump with a pump to move the oil. You'll also need to lengthen the front prop shaft.

Its extra work, but means you can mount the engine well back and low in the car which makes the weight distribution much better.

I didnt do this on my 100e as I wanted to keep it a full 4 seater so kept the engine/box/sump standard.

Would it not be easier to transverse mount it, and use a Modeo 4x4 gearbox.

Its a 1961 Ford 100E popular, or was lol. The pics are a couple of years old just on with the bodywork on it.

Thats at the top of the suspension travel. At the bottom it drops by about 4", but i've built it so theres a good 8" under all the important things on the car (sump, exhausts etc) tho the sills might take a beating.

Again..i can't see

Stan im not sure if that would be strong enough for 300+hp. Anyway incase you didn't know what that running gear was i hope this helps...

LOL the scooby motor wont fit I dont think I had a look and to get the driveshafts to run in a straight line the engine would hang out the front of the car.

Do the driveshafts run through the sump on the impreza or is it a transaxle? If they run through the sump and they're towards the rear of the engine you might be able to turn the sump back to front to put the driveshafts at the front of the engine, obviously modifying the pickup to suit. Will handle much better and modifying the bulkhead isnt difficult.

modeo box has been used on a 350/400bhp fiesta 4x4.

Yeh the MTX75 aint a bad box at all they sometimes have a problem with the 3rd gear synchros same as the MT75s but apart from that they're pretty strong.

Would be a great project Flan! If you need any measurements/pics of components to check out whether it is doable then let me know

Now where do i start... i really need to go and see one to measure it all up.

width between the hub surfaces.
between the sus tops
width of engine
distance from center line of drive shaft to front of engine

I thought it would fit, the scooby has a tight transaxle but as its a flat four i "thought" the length would almost be the same as the williams (maybe a few inches more) but in theroy if its got the scooby suspention it should be ok..

if it fits
