I wanna heat wrap my williams exhaust manifold and downpipe when they arrive. Just wondered how hard is this to do and whats the best stuff to use?

I was looking at :

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Heat-Wrap-for-Exhaust-Manifold-Header-2-x-25_W0QQitemZ290076006447QQihZ019QQcategoryZ38786QQ rdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

As someone said it was ok stuff. I didnt know if that stuff was to wide? they also do a 1inch version.

I got my heatwrap from rallydesign, seems the cheapest around.
What manifold you wrapping?
If your doing the downpipe and manifold, i recon you could get away with 2" x 50'
Its quite fiddly to do with a even overlap, and on some bends etc make sure its wet though.
Also annoying that you have to keep on feeding it through the manifold to stop it tangling up.

I would say so.
Also noticed it poped abit more, and the coolant stays cooler as well.

If i do it wet i take it that it holds tight when its dry so thus no need for stainless cable ties?

You will still need the metal cable ties to stop the ends coming unwound.
Personally i found that jubilee clips worked better and where easier to use.

When you wrap it wet, you want to wrap it tight but not to tight if its stainless as it expands abit iirc so wouldnt be to good for it if it couldnt expand.
Mild steel isnt so bad, so you can wrap it tighter.

Its mild steel, its a williams mani. Have ordered 20 x 5 black wrap. :)

Ill get some jubliee clips at the weekend. So I will need 8 for the mani and 2 larger ones for the downpipe i guess would be best.

Cool, the williams manifold whould be easier to wrap which is good.
Should be enough..
When i did mine i ran out so had to buy more which was annoying.
Should get away with 5-6 for the manifold. As when you wrap down one, you can come back up and end on another, saving having to cut it.
